Here's one for all you techie's to get your teeth into.

I am going to purchase a laptop/notebook (tomayto/tomarto) and want to know the following:

1. What is the best make vs price on the market?

2. Is the AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50 much better than Intel® Centrino Duo Mobile Technology with Intel Core Duo Processor T2050 (1.60GHz 2MB L2 Cache 533Mhz FSB) pound for pound?

3. In your experience, where is the best place to purchase? Online or for example PC World?

I will be using the computer mainly for photography editing, playing and editing music, occasional editing of video and browsing the web (admittedly mainly porn - cue lame jokes).

If you could try to answer this as seriously as possible I'll be very grateful.

A Bien Tot.

Joe

Dell are mint. My home computer is Dell, my brothers computer is Dell, my laptop is Dell... everything at home is Dell.

The laptop i wanted with the spec saved alot of money cant remember off the top of my head over £200ish i thing, i kept saying no its too much i can get a better deal of HP (not the sauce).. (well actually it saved my dad that much i never paid a penny for it)

It's been delivered today so no doubt will have to drive to some random depot to pick it up later. Here is the Spec. I'm gonna call it Mandy after today's news.

If it's running Vista, I wouldn't even think about having less than 2 gig of ram. I've had it (vista) running on a desktop with a gig of ram for the last few months now and it runs like a dog, ok for websurfing and a bit of word procesing, but desperately needs more memory, and I would never expect a laptop to be capable of any more than very basic video editing. .... Sorry
