Yep, he was poor in pre-season too, he should be fined a weeks wages everytime he attempts to by-pass the midfield. Stearman was the biggest disappointment out of many for me today.

I was particularly impressed by his long-range effort at goal :icon_roll

Speaking of which, Gareth Williams had a few too many Lampard-esque attempts today as well.

I am not looking forward to the Burnley match, but something drastic has to change. Bottom of the feckin league already.....

And Burnley are top of the league - thank goodness Akinbiyi isn't still with them. Come on, Frank - give us a goal!

Yes Stearman was dreadful!

No!

Sure it was the worst game i think i've seen him play. But you;ve got to give him the chance to make it up instead of just dropping him. Whats that going to do to his confidence!

I'd play the same team (bar Kisnorbo for Kenton), put a rocket up the asses, and tell them to go and make amends.

...then drop them all if they lose :)

I hope you meant kisnorbo for johannsen kenton was a class above johansen and the rest of defense.
You're right, and he was fit as well, unlike a lot of the others.

I seem to be one of a minority on here who wasn't impressed by Kenton at all :102:

I'm not saying he was the worst, just that all of the back four were woeful.

I'm with you on that.. Kenton was crap. Personally I thought Johansson was probably the best of our back four, fair do it was his fault for the first goal but I can't remember alot else he did wrong. Stearman on the other hand was ****ing awful full stop.. I can't remember alot he did right..

McCarthy was below average, all I remember from him was when he clipped the top of the bar while it was 0-0 and his booking which could have possibly been a red..

Our defense overall was poor all game, constantly ripped apart by through balls and high balls. We were shit in the air.. well we were pretty much shit everywhere. Only positives I can take out of that game were..

a) Fryatt and Williams looked okay..
b) We looked a bit threatening from set pieces for once...

the player ratings site seems to indicate as our mom at this point.

kenton just seemed to be their for interceptions a lot and also did some forward runs in the process.

stearman just kept hoofing it.

didnt see mccarthy much apart from his yellow card.

johannsen was struggling bad on corners marking his man.

I think I'm finally coming out of my strop thrown after watching that crap yesterday....
Kenton seemed to insist on going forward rather a lot I thought which at times left Paddy very exposed. It was the worst I have seen Stearman play and the same goes for Hume.
Williams was ok but not a single player had a good game.
Sort them out Kelly!

I agree. Williams was the best of a poor bunch. He was unlucky not to score, and all of our best chances came from him.

Hume and Fryatt were awful. Fryatt looked ok first half but was anonymous in the second.

Tiatto and Maybury are good players, but they are not good enough playing as wingers. They are more defensive, and they were easily dealt with by Luton's wing-backs.

Johnson did well. He looks like a reasonable replacement for Gudjonsson. However I need to see a few more games to give a more accurate judgement on him.

Kenton was alright defensively, his letdown were the runs he made, at times he acted liked the 5th midfielder. He reminds me a lot of Frank Sinclair, in the way that he is a big donkey at the back. :icon_bigg He hoofed the ball a lot, Impey and Sinclair style.

McCarthy didn't make much of an impact, although he was unlucky not to score, and also lucky that the ref didn't give him a red card instead of a yellow.

Our "experienced left back" Johansson looked awful. The worst performance I've seen from him. He couldn't handle the Luton right winger (can't remember who it was), and he struggled against Barnett every time Luton had a set-piece.

Stearman also looked well off the pace, and he struggled against Emanuel.

All in all, a very poor performance. I'm expecting a lot more from the Burnley match. We've seen how the team can perform, we just need to go out and do it....

Same here, he was easily turned, always the wrong side of the man and when going forward he lost his sense of position.

Maybury did have a very good first season and who knows he might somehow be able to replicate that again.

But Tiatto is hopeless, especially now that any last little bit of pace has gone from his game, I cannot for the life of me see why RK re-signed him. No other club (as far as I know) showed the slightest bit of interest in him when he became available on a free, which speaks volumes. Infact I see him as more of a burden than an asset now due to his suspect temperament.

What makes me more angry about the Tiatto renew was he is supposly a squad player and will play no more than 25 games. If he's a 'squad' player, what the feck he doing starting the opening game.

Get someone in on loan. And pay 10% of their wages.
