Your concern is touching!!

I am of course fine, splendid in fact!!!

But are you dry yet?

The Bolton match tonight was played in similar conditions, they reckoned it would have been abandoned if the visitors hadn't have come all the way from Russia.

No excuse HF, I will be in the toon for 9am tomorrow, I still wont go oustide if its pissing it down.......

A funny story I was reading the other day about Vladistock getting promoted to the Russian First Division. Vladistock is 30 mins from Japan and on the East side of Russia. No there is going to be some major probelms trying to get to Vladistock if you're a fan. The team will fly by plane, but the fans can take the train lasting 4 weeks or going yourself by car which would take 4 and half months. Why? Well the nearest petrol station from Vladistock is 500 miles from Moscow, so when the car stops out of petrol, you have to walk to the petrol station, return with all you can carry and so on.

Well think about if a game was called off at Vladistock.

You could easily cover 500 miles with a bootful and backseats full of fuel, not taking account of the tank full you would get at the last station.

Its way more than 500 miles. Its something like 5,000 miles. Once using all you petrol you have to go back all the 2,500 miles walking to get all you can hold petrol and etc.

If not, Why not fly? Any russian easyJets?

And you believed it all?

Vladivostok is nearer to both China and North Korea than it is to Japan. It is perfectly possible to drive from Moscow to Vladivostok, although yes it would take a month and for part of the journey you would be better to put your car/van on the back of a train. There are some gaps of about 200 miles between petrol stations, but they are usually more often than that.

Why couldn't the fans fly like the players do? Do Russian fans even want to go to away games?

The notion of fans travelling to away matches is not universal in Europe, even in countries which are far less spread than Russia. It may surprise some of you to know who took the second highest number of fans to the
Estadio Vicente Calderón in 1997.

(phew - just got it back on topic!)

I suppose the time is still not right to say how comfortable the plane journey was then?

Or how booking your own flights + 2 nights in a hotel was only half the price of flying out their on the club's trip.

Yes, I know England, Germany and Italy are the countries where a mass away following is present. If there is any away following present at other games count yourself lucky. However, Barcelona brought a fair few to Chelsea last year.

The interesting thing is we moan about Plymouth and the travelling distances. What about the Germans fans hey? Bloody Bremen to Munich is a long trip. However, they do have a highly efficient train service.

Boc, the story is only a exaggeration of what I've read. Telling it simply would sound boring. Add a few 0's onto everything, trust me it worked for certain British government.
