no you cant!!

but im sure a full stadium week in week out will give the team a boost

Boost or no boost, the way the team are playing when they have on of the biggest attendences in the league is a disgrace

Sure it might be nice to have a full stadium but having more people in the stadium shouldn't have a massive effect.
Week in week out players play in front of nearly nothing attendences but they get on with their job.

9 games 5 goals. Who to blame? Well a few weeks ago Hume came off the bench. He had two great passes made to him, one by Porter, both just 5 yards from goal. He fecking missed both of them! And then got a 'Huuuuume' cheer for fecks sake. How may passes/free shots on goal does he need?

So he has two chances a game and is expected to score both? You cannot provide a striker with one or two chances a game and expect them to get 20 goals a season. They miss, it's a fact of the game. Look at how many Rooney or Shearer miss(ed), but their team kept creating chances and they knocked enough in.

But do Rooney or Shearer miss from 5 yards with a 'free' shot? For fecks sake even Dion Dublin said he could get it in the net from 5 yards!

They have been known to yes. And if I remember correctly one of the ones Hume missed was five yards to the left of goal, practically on the bi-line with a defender in front of him. Whether or not he and the other strikers should score every chance they have is something me may have to agree to disagree, but surely the fact that our midfield can only muster up two chances a game between them shows how inept they are?!

I voted for midfield - but the way they've played may be due to the manager's tactics / team selection.

It's as though the central midfielders (even Hughes) have been told not to go forward, they don't join in with attacks, they don't make forward runs beyond the strikers.
We've also seen a lack of attacking play from the full backs. I think Stearman should come back into the team because he does at least try to get forward, and apart from the first couple of games I don't think he's been as bad this season as people have been saying.

So this leaves the two strikers doing the work up front by themselves, making it easy to mark them and defend against. But even then in some games we've created plenty of chances which have been missed, so the blame should really be shared around.

We can't underestimate just how much of an impact losing Joey was. Not only did he come forward and setup goals, he scored them too.

It go's to show how far we have slumped when we are badly missing a player that wouldn't have got in the team a few short years ago.

The Manager, he signs the players, designs the training regime, selects the team, tactics, formations and substitutions. The buck stops with him.

Regardless of the odd poor miss which can always happen, there has been an all too consistent pattern to our play this season, it has been too cautious, players operating within defensive constraints.

We proved last season we were capable of scoring goals, I still believe Kelly is unsure of his front pairing as well, last season it was Hume and Fryatt with the occasional appearance from the bench for O'Grady, this season we have played 9 games with Fryatt, Hume, Hammond and O'Grady all being given opportunites to start games, there is too much chopping and changing from Kelly. Similar mistakes as made by Levein - Negative football and no settled strike pairing.

we arent creating enough chances from midfield, but i have to blame the strikers for saturday....fryatt one on one managed to feck up the best chance we had, i think i would have scored it

The manager, last season he stuck to basics and we got rsults.

Getting the job and bringing in his own players he has lost it somewhat, unsure of his best strikers, playing too defensive, got too many defenders and poor in the transfer market.

there's a real "blame culture" on this forum

(that Jessel started ;) )

You may while be right Chrysalis, my thoughts are really
are we playing to a system I suppose its 4-4-2 but it very often seems like "your on your own" system, we never vary, there seems to be a blind insistance on keeping the team playing solely in the centre circle with very little attacking idea...... allied to a powder puff midfield going nowhere, we have two up front very rarely seen we have one who has yet to realise his potential(which will materialise when hes sold on) the other initially looked good but the more you see the less you believe.

Probably when we play more stronger teams we will be shown how to play football because there's a thrashing or two on the line soon the way we are playing

You're right, of course. And this gives succour to those with over-inflated expectations - which leads to dissatisfaction - which leads to a lack of atmosphere in the ground - which leads to the players feeling that they are not supported by the fans - which leads to them not scoring.

It's Jessel's fault that we are not scoring!!

please let's not get into the whole

the crowd should boost the players, which will get results, which will boost the crowd...

positive feedback loop argument AGAIN

I'm sure that you know that I was writing tongue-in-cheek and was using the well-rehearsed, though possibly mistaken, argument only to continue your baiting of jessel.

I would say however that whatever one thinks about the 'positive feedback loop', the associated 'negative feedback loop' undoubtedly exists and is alive and strong and living at the Walkers Stadium.
