Yes we did! Nothing really changed when he came in. John Rudkin has run our academy for years. When CL arrived we had no Youth Set Up as such he put that in place, the fruits of which are just start to come through

Are you just waiting in the wings today to pick me up on everything...we had no Youth players coming through then
We did have a youth set up, but Micky Adams would rather sign a pensioner than play any of the kids.
For example Richard Stearman was getting rave reviews for the reserves but never got near the team, Bassett gave him his debut when he was caretaker.
Not at all, Im not called Jeff or Bocadillo :icon_lol:
It was also many of the same players there too!!
But they were never given a chance like Webbo says,CL gave them a chance
I didnt see that many getting a chance from CL either
No you are right Durham.....about everything
I didnt see that many getting a chance from CL either
Im just saying I cant remember him giving a chance to that many players. I wont post next time.
CL is responsible for our youngest ever player..but he only played a few minutes and he hasn't played since!
I think the real difference is that under Adams we had the money to have a big squad, so we didn't have to turn to young players in emergencies.
Maybe Micky Adams saw the same as I what I did and still do. A buffoon with the grace of one of them toys where you have to press the button on the bottom for their legs to go all floppy and they fall downFor example Richard Stearman was getting rave reviews for the reserves but never got near the team, Bassett gave him his debut when he was caretaker.

Halle-feckin'-llujah.....
But he gave more chances than MA did and players like Stearman,Wesolowski,OGrady,Sheehan,Porter progressed more under CL.Ok they may not have played but they played in the Reserves etc.
To be fair Luke, Levein was instrumental in the development of a number of the youth team players, it was his policy to promote a significant number of the Academy players and put them into the reserves.
Weso, Porter, Logan, Sheehan and Chambers have all progressed through the ranks to have an opportunity with the first team squad as a result of this plan. Also Stearman became a first team regular under Levein.
Whilst he had a poor time as regards results on the pitch, his restructuring of the club and his commitment to developing a younger squad has certainly started to bear fruit.
