Why cant we look at players like this

theres no fight to be had, the point is our midfield is shite and we need some better players to come in and sort it. simple really. plus craig levein stated the 3 year plan when he arrived and that was longer than a year ago.

Yes we did! Nothing really changed when he came in. John Rudkin has run our academy for years.

We did have a youth set up, but Micky Adams would rather sign a pensioner than play any of the kids.

For example Richard Stearman was getting rave reviews for the reserves but never got near the team, Bassett gave him his debut when he was caretaker.

CL is responsible for our youngest ever player..but he only played a few minutes and he hasn't played since!

I think the real difference is that under Adams we had the money to have a big squad, so we didn't have to turn to young players in emergencies.

I agree with you. Kelly has been forced to use the youngsters but in their development CL represents only 18 months?? of input.

I short I think CL's role in youth development has generally been over played.

Maybe Micky Adams saw the same as I what I did and still do. A buffoon with the grace of one of them toys where you have to press the button on the bottom for their legs to go all floppy and they fall down

To be fair Luke, Levein was instrumental in the development of a number of the youth team players, it was his policy to promote a significant number of the Academy players and put them into the reserves.

Weso, Porter, Logan, Sheehan and Chambers have all progressed through the ranks to have an opportunity with the first team squad as a result of this plan. Also Stearman became a first team regular under Levein.

Whilst he had a poor time as regards results on the pitch, his restructuring of the club and his commitment to developing a younger squad has certainly started to bear fruit.

O'Grady made his debut under Adams, he never played a first team game for Levein.

Still dont really agree Steve I'm affraid. Stearman became a first team player but he was in the first team squad when he arrived. The likes of the players you mentioned were in the reserves because we had a tiny squad. Not really his policy, it was forced on him by the fact he had to get rid of somany players.
