Probably because he was a poor player with too high an opinion of himself. He had potential but just wasnt good enough for us, at the same time he thought he should be playing regularly.

The extra season in league one seems to have done him some good.

As for Gradel, we're not exactly missing him.

I think there is a tendency to dismiss Gradel too easily. In the promotion season I thought he was not as effective as Dyer but he was a lot younger. I thought then that he had the potential to be better than Dyer in three or four years time and was disappointed to see him leave.
Recently Dyer has IMO played really well but is still struggling to get in the team and I think the same would have been true of Max. Players who were easily good enough for us last season - Morrison, Berner, Hobbs and Fryatt - have found themselves sidelined by arguably better players. After Sven has a pre-season who can be sure that Dyer or Gallagher will be part of Svens plans.

I enjoyed watching Max Gradel and I would guess he will help Leeds achieve a place in the playoffs. I hope Leeds will make the play-offs season after season.
