Time for a poll. We have had a couple of bad resultsbut can we make the playoffs ,yes or no?

7 points to make up, which might as well be 8 points with the GD. Burnley have 2 games in hand BOTH at home. These are against Coventry and Middlesbrough.

Had we not been so poor these last 3-4 games I would have very easily have voted yes, but we've well and truly ****ed it up this season.

Definitely NOT the time for a vote. There's enough gloom in the world at the moment.

Anyway the question in your post "can we make the playoffs' is totally different to the question posed in your poll which was "will we make the play offs".

If I were to answer the first quesion my answer would have been based on it being mathematically possible. For the second - it would different.

IMO I think we will just scrape through.

History suggests 70-75 points for 6th spot.
So lets assume 72 points, which is 20 more from a possible 30.

Thats 6 wins, 2 draws and allows for 2 losses.

Scunthorpe (away) win - 3 points
Portsmouth (home) draw - 1 point
Middlesbrough (away) win - 3 points
Burnley (home) loss - 0 points
Palace (home) win 3 points
Reading (away) draw - 1 point
Forest (away) loss - 0 points
Watford (home) win - 3 points
Doncaster (away) win - 3 points
Ipswich (home) win - 3 points

If we win at home to Portsmouth (and to be honest, the players should be up for it if they remember that 6-1 drubbing at their place), or manage a draw against Burnley or Forest, it eases a bit of the pressure later on. Certainly doable.

I voted "yes" just so that I can bump this and gloat to ye of little faith if we do make them.

I'm hoping everyone else will have forgotten about this thread if we don't make it.

Looking at how many points behind the sides above us in the table we were when Sousa was sacked after we lost to Norwich, see how far we have closed the gap in the 27 games since then.

QPR the gap was 18 now 18
Swansea it was 10 now 11
Norwich it was 11 now 11
Cardiff it was 12 now 9
Leeds it was 9 now 8
F****t it was 7 now 7
Burnley it was 10 now 4 (2 games in hand)
Reading it was 10 now 2
Hull it was 6 now 0

since the first Norwich defeat we have performed as well as any of the top 6 sides as the table stands. top six form

I voted 'No' but I would now like to change my vote.. I re-read the title of this thread and it does not state when we will make the playoffs .... So 'Yes', I think it is highly likely that we will, at some unspecified point in the future, make the playoffs.

For some of us it might be better to wait until next season and try for automatic promotion. I do not think I am up to watching play-offs again.

I am reminded of my father in his last years. His doctor advised him not to watch football unless he knew the score in advance for heart reasons. He was allowed to watch cricket matches as nothing would happen there to get him excited.

Don't worry, if we get to the playoffs this season I'm going to stay away!

Learnt my lesson at the Cardiff game last season, that for the good of the team I need to stay away!
