While the men struggled in Wales, our women were busy handing out a 4-0 trouncing of Lewes. Up to fifth now, which is top of the mini league that has developed apart from the top four fighting it out for the promotion spots.

Well that was a bit of a thriller, 3-2 with a fair bit of squeaky bum time between Millwall's second in the 75th minute and a red card near the end. A bit overshadowed by news that a Charlton player has been very seriously injured in their match though.

That United team are going to do very well in WSL1 next year. The authorities have been leaning on them for a bit to have a women's team, now they do it's full-time and well funded - no surprise so many of those goals came late into the game

Great news for the visibility of the women's game - one Championship match a round will be broadcast free as part of this, so should be at least a couple of matches for those who can't make it up to Quorn

Charlton are bottom of the table, winless so far. Leicester are only two points and two places higher. The pitch is crap and the ball is bobbling around. Leicester have been the better team so far, and had a couple of chances. But both sides look poor.
