Well, you'll all be delighted to hear that my broken camera somehow fixed itself and it continues to work as if the last couple of years hadn't happened, so... here are a load of bloody boring bird photos from the other side of the bloody world, for your viewing pleasure. All taken in the past few weeks here in southern Arizona (I'm still working on the Belize photos).

The world smallest owl, being about the size of a sparrow - the Elf Owl.

A shite photo, but a good moment for me, when a Golden Eagle flew over my house, being mobbed by a raven. Ravens are massive, which shows you big the eagle is.


Beep beep! It's a Greater Roadrunner! I was quite disappointed when I discovered that they don't actually beep.


Roadrunners have a curious ability to sunbathe, puffing out their back feathers and revealing dark skin which absorbs heat.

Turkey Vulture, an elegant bird when soaring gracefully, but pretty ugly close up.

And finally, a splendid Spotted Owl of the endangered Mexican subspecies.
