I think Forana ceiling is much higher. But Faes is what we need right now and in the dressing room.
Agreed. I think Fofana has incredible potential. With Wout I feel as though we have got exactly the type of character that we needed right now.

I have to admit to putting some money on Diego Costa getting him sent off yesterday. You can all thank me for the final result...

Wout Faes’ Soup Flask

He's brilliant. Could be a pivotal signing in turning out season around. Physical, aggressive, good on the ball, mobile and a leader.

Who would've thought having a centre back that's not Daniel Amartey would make us improve?!

With Evans approaching the end of his career and Amartey not up to it, I'd have thought that a defensive pairing of Wout and Cags would be worth developing. Obviously Brendog has other ideas

CB is an incredibly difficult position to be impressive in straight away in a new team. So much of it is about how you interact with the rest of the back four & these days with midfield too. So I'm always lenient with them to start with. I have a good memory too :

John O'Neill - ****ing awful in his first 10 or so games
Gerry Taggart - Looked a total dud early on
Jonny Evans - Looked past it & a waste of money in the beginning

3 eras. 3 players. 3 terrible starts. All went on to be vital to the team in different ways & at different levels.

You forgot Brian Carey.

Conversely, I always thought Julian Watts had an instant impact (particularly in lifting Walshy’s performance) as one of MON’s key signings in the run to the play offs in 1996, now largely forgotten compared to Muzzy, Lenny and Steve Claridge. Didn’t have the pace and strength for the Prem though.

Matt Elliott settled in pretty quickly if I recall

And it’s a good job Huth did or we’d have got relegated in 2015
