Leicester City eyeing shock move for bit-part Everton striker Yakubu

Leicester City are ready to make an ambitious bid for Everton striker Yakubu to spearhead their push for the play-offs.

Yakubu has been starved of regular first team football at Goodison Park and was left out of the squad that was beaten 2-0 by Stoke on New Year's Day.

The Nigerian striker wants to leave but it is not yet known whether he would be prepared to drop down a level into the Championship.

Wanted man: Yakubu is a shock target for Leicester

Leicester, who are backed by Thai millionaires, are one of only a few clubs who could match Yakubu's current wages. Everton are exploring all options to bring in a striker themselves and retain an interest in Tottenham's David Bentley.

Leicester have agreed a fee with FC Twente for Bernard Parker as Sven Goran Eriksson also looks to tie up a deal for Kyle Naughton.

Crikey, that would be utterly brilliant. Hard to believe he's still only 28, especially given the scandals about other Nigerian footballers, either way he would piss all over most defences in this division.
 
As I mentioned in the other thread, the staff at Leicester have said that his wages are something that a deal hinges on, as he's on mega bucks at Everton. Obviously he needs to be willing to take a step down as well - but there aren't too many takers for a permanent deal at present.
 
Would be incredible. Don't see it happening though.

Feed the Yak and he will produce milk that we can turn into much needed cheese, butter and other dairy products...........

I'm not sure that's a priority at the moment spion
 
Is he really any good anymore?

He can't get into the Everton team that struggles to score goals. His past record is great, but would be a bit of a gamble IMO.

Worth a shot I guess if nobody else is willing to drop down to our level
