I know Stringy hasn't proved overly knowledgable in the past, but he was quite specific to say that the Birch's 40 year link was being 'forced' to end. It doesn't sound to me he wants out.

It's perfectly possible to not want to leave a club, but to leave it anyway. Nothing I wrote in my earlier post should be construed to mean that I think Birchenall wants to leave.

I think people know that the departure of Peter Jones left me with a feeling of unease. My reference to it today was intended to indicate that I feel uneasy about the possibility of Birchenall following him.

Perhaps, as part of the takeover, it was decided that we need more professional half time entertainment and general PR.:102:

I wouldn't be surprised that given the impending takeover that it was an opportune moment for the club to move the Birch on. I think whilst he will always be a true legend of the club and a good ambassador, I am not sure his brand of entertainment or humour is fashionable enough for our younger fan base. I tend to agree that a more jazzy and vibrant approach and I would not be surprised a more recent and more fashionable "hero" being given the opportunity to undertake the role of ambassador......Walshy or Muzzy for instance.
