To call Carlisle's actions twattish suggests you don't understand mental illness.

If Carlisle did it deliberately he may not have been in a position to think rationally at the time, so the effect it would have on his wife, kids, the lorry driver etc wouldn't have entered his head.

Everything I have read suggests he has suffered bouts of depression but is not so far down that line that he would not understand the horrific nature of what he was doing. He's attempted suicide before, and has spoken about it publicly.

The comparison to the events yesterday are still not really justified imho.
