The rep for said game company should make sure Asda know about this games release and indeed have the order delivered to them prior along with all POS material rqd. The Asda buyers let the suppliers do the work

Until 2 hours ago it was due for release on friday though. They decided to launch it today instead about 2 hours ago. Odds are all ASDA stores will have the stock and pos (unlikely they would use it in any case) but its massively unlikely this game will appear on supermarket shelves before Friday IMO.

i think all shops get the games a few days before the release date. sounds like one or 2 shops have been selling them early so they brought the date forward. same thing happened last year.

so asda should have it in the store, just a question of whether it's on display yet. you caould always ask for it and they might fetch it from storage for you.

Indeed, the Asda bods will probably have it in a box out back and young Tarquin will just say "ardunno, rullavalook" and then 30 secs later return with "nahmatesoz"

Precisely.

Games are launched on Fridays, they will do a stock check and display new titles thursday night/friday morning.

They will have the stock but if they dont know the release date has been brought forward then they wont let you have it anyway

1 i can confirm this is true having worked in a major high street entertainment chain

SI games say this is the case and why they have brought it forward
"SEGA and Sports Interactive would like to announce that the official street date for Football Manager 2007 on PC / Mac has been brought forward to Wednesday, October 18th. yes but before this was announced scarbs, it would be illegal to sell the game before the release date of the 20th of october-that was my point im not saying its illegal now !

and they are now entitled if they want to take legal action against any outlet that sold it before the 20th october before that announcement was made !

You said you doubted that outlets were selling it early as it was illegal. Scarbs said that was the reason they brought the release forward as people WERE selling it early. :102:
 
Would it be illegal or just immoral and breach of contract?
