My concern with the, now regular, silence from the club about our managment situation is that we're still being guided by Rudkin.
It is well reported that Rudkin wanted Potter as Rodgers replacement. It has also been widely reported that Potter was our preferred option if we were to stay up.
Going down makes the whole thing much more complicated. Potter is unlikely to want to commit his future to a Championship team if a PL job is available.
So are we going to wait for him to assess his options? If so, how long are we going to wait?
What have we said to Dean Smith? Is he still the manager? Is he making decisions about players or is he on a beach somewhere? Surely we cannot be keeping him hanging on in case we don't get anyone better?
Personally, I'm not against Potter. We could do a lot worse. His only Championship experience was with a newly relegated Swansea and he finished 10th in his only season there. I also think it would be a smart move for Potter himself. He needs to rebuild his own career and we'd be an ideal place to do it.

No way Potter comes to us now, there are quite a few PL jobs potentially coming up that he would be prime candidate for so no way he comes to us.
Im sure smith was meant to be meeting with the board/top yesterday so it's a little strange there has been no update.
We need to be swift though in whatever we do as plodding along for a few weeks doing nothing could be the difference between a promotion push or another relegation battle.

As it stands, I don't see a PL club with a managerial vacancy apart from Spurs and they're not going to appoint him.
There might be a vacancy come up over the next few weeks but there might not. There lies the problem for Potter and for us.

I doubt many clubs will be as interested in Potter now. His Chelsea stint will leave him with options like Moyes had after Man U. Brighton haven't really missed him either which won't help his cause. Can't see him coming to us though, Smith's the obvious appointment as he's already there so won't be any need for the board to do much work.

Over half of the PL clubs changed managers last season.
Whether Potter gets an offer this summer or not, he knows that he can walk in to a PL role at some point in the next 12 months.
Zero chance he comes to this complete shambles. He would have everything to lose and little to gain (as people outside the club already see us as favourites for promotion).
