Tickets
We have been allocated 1,584 tickets in the Leppings Lane Stand, priced at £19 for adults and £10 for 65 and over and u16s. All tickets bought from Sheefield Wednesday on the day of the game will cost an additional £1.
No reduction is listed for students, although I think that students should also be paying that lesser price; student prices *are* available to home fans who occupy similar accomodation, so it is against Football League rules not to offer a reduction to away fans who are students. If you are a student (and can prove it) I would suggest that you contact the ticket office in plenty of time for them to discuss this matter with their counterparts at Hillsborough. It might also be useful to bring the matter up with the FT and to consider whether you would be prepared to take a complaint to the Football League.
Tickets go on sale...
Monday 23rd October - Season Ticket Holders Priority 1
Tuesday 24th October - Season Ticket Holders Priority 2
Wednesday 25th October - Season Ticket Holders Priority 3
Thursday 26th October - Members
Friday 27th October - General Sale
Coaches
Foxtravel coaches will be leaving the stadium at 11:30. £12.50 for Adult ST holders, £10.50 for Concession ST holders - a quid more for non-ST holders in each case.
Trains
MML have got engineering work between Derby and Chesterfield with trains being diverted over an alternative route, adding about 30 minutes to the journey time.
There are still some £6 and £8 single tickets for sale on suitably timed services. You can even travel 1st class for £12 single. If you want these tickets, get them quick because they will soon be gone.
The Saver Return fare is £18.40 - this ticket has the advantage that it can be used on Virgin and Central Trains between Derby/Nottingham and Sheffield and gives a more frequent choice of trains.
Groups of 3 or 4 people travelling together can take advantage of the GroupSave scheme and buy 3 or 4 tickets for the same price as 2. With 4 people travelling together, they would each pay £9.20 for a Saver Return - bargain!! Please note that GroupSave tickets are not valid on Virgin Trains, but are OK on both MML and Central.
If you really want to save money, buy a Cheap Day Return to Derby and another Cheap Day Return from Derby to Leicester. You can get both from the ticket office at Leicester for £15.50 total. Combine this with GroupSave and 4 can make the return journey for £7.75 each - bigger bargain!!
A special bus runs to the ground from the front of the station; I seem to remember that it is £3 return. If you want to use the tram, go out of the back of the station and take a Blue Line Tram (Destination Malin Bridge) for one stop and change onto a Yellow Line tram (Destination Middlewood) to Leppings Lane. Single fare is £1.50 but buy a DayRider ticket for £2.70 which gives you unlimited tram journeys for the day. Under 11s pay only 40p per single journey. Age 11-16 have to pay the adult fare unless they are in possession of a valid South Yorkshire pass. Please note that the tram stops nearer the away end than the bus does. After the match they do provide some buses from the away end back to the station but before the game they stop on the main road and you have to walk round.
Directions
Two ways of doing this. Either:
Leave the M1 at Junction 33 and follow the Sheffield Parkway down towards the City Centre. As you reach the City Centre look out for and follow signs for A61 Barnsley. Hillsborough is about 3 miles north of the City Centre on the left of the A61. This route does get very congested!
or:
Stay on the M1 to Junction 36. Leave the motorway there and take the A61 towards Sheffield. The ground is about 4 miles on the right.
Pubs
Last season the London Branch broke their tram journey at Shalesmoor and walked along to a lovely old pub with good beer and cheap food. I am sure that Sharapova will remind us of its name in due course.
