It was a bit much, but in a way the referee intervening could only distract the player further. As in real life, there is no real plan for dealing with wankers.

The ref told him to stop approachong them after the 2nd or 3rd. Which led him to do a walkabout inside the area instead.

Given that players in the same game were allowed to timewaste I'm not surprised he was allowed to get on with it.
