Wrestlemania 23

YAY... I'm off to Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit. I've just received my tickets in the mail.

It'll be great to see Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. I've been to wrestling many times but I have yet to see Hulk or Austin in the flesh. I will mark out big-time for those two. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the world's biggest Hulkamaniac - I don't even think I'm a Hulkamaniac - but for nostalgia alone it will be great to see the red and yellow. When that glass breaks for Stone Cold I will definitely mark out.

I'm looking forward to the Cena - Shawn Michaels match. I hope the crowd don't boo Cena - I certainly won't be. The Undertaker - Big Dave match is probably not going to be a 'Wrestling Classic' - no Batista match could be - but again it will be cool to see Taker. I hope he doesn't lose his Wrestlemania undefeated streak. He should maintain that as his legacy and if he does lose it should be to a better star than Batista. Maybe at Wrestlemania 24 he could go against Edge and possibly lose it. I hope they have an Edge - Orton match at Mania. They have both arguably, Edge in particular, been two of the top guys on Raw in the last 6 months to a year and I like both their characters. As a massive 'Edgehead' of course I hope he wins.

Yes but my Wife is taking it. She's not into Wrestling in the slightest but the Arena in Detroit is right next to the Canadian border so we're going to make a weekend of it and go to the Casino in Canada - Seeing as the Canadian Dollar isn't worth sh!t we can indulge a little.

Undertaker v Batista is a shit 'main event'. Hopefully Taker will win, but I can see Batista winning it.

Cena v HBK is the real main event, I hope HBK wins. Cannot wait for this match.

Hogan v Shane McMahon, Hogan v Khali, Lashley v Snitsky, Jeff Hardy v Ric Flair, Benoit v Booker T

I can understand kids liking it but I find it funny to see adults in the crowd getting really excited about some greased-up, beef-cake in nothing short of a G-String!! It is no-way a sport, yes the people that partake are athletes but the whole thing is just one big acted out joke!!

Please don't turn this into a 'Wrestling is sh!t' thread.

It is not a pure sport. It is 'Sports-Entertainment'. It is not fake, it is pre-determined. The results may not be real in some peoples eyes but the broken bones and serious injuries are. If you don't like wrestling then fine, that's up to you but why do you have to knock those of us who do?

I will always be a wrestling fan. Wrestling is a hell of a lot more real than 24 or Lost or Eastenders and I do not knock anyone for watching those shows. Lets keep this a thread about Wrestling and Wrestlemania. If you are not a fan please stay off this thread.

As it happens the final Raw before Wrestlemania is in Chicago. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. That's gonna be quite a week for me.

We got two tickets that were originally $100 each for a total price of $250. Wrestlemania is in Detroit and there is a wierd Michigan state law that limits the resale ticket price for events held in Michigan.

According to Wikipedia - Marking out is:

'a moment of enjoying professional wrestling "for what it is" rather than analyzing its staged nature'

But yes, in lay-Man's terms it means to go crazy. For instance, I will mark out when the glass breaks and Stone Cold enters the arena (hopefully). I will not mark out when either Vince or Donald have their head shaved. Now I've got my tickets for the Raw show immediately before Mania I am even more excited... Ford Field here we come!!!
