it might be better if he continued to work so that he can pay off the family he has just ruined.
And how exactly would he do that?

This isn't a monetary issue.

I do however agree with your other points.

no amount of money would undo what he has done, he should be locked up for a good 10yrs and never be allowed to drive again

I know it is not a monetary issue but my logic goes like this. If I were the parents I would looking to sue the arse off McCormick. If he is working then it is easier to get cash out of him than if he is banged up. After all what is the father to do with a broken back? :102: :icon_conf

why not combine the 2 sue him for all he has got and lock him up

Yep, I see that. If I were the family I think I'd want him out of my life, and I wouldn't want anything from him.

But I hope to f**k I never find out.

I wouldn't want money, I would want blood. I would not rest until the fcuker was dead, even if it was 20 years later.

What a piss take the **** should have been remanded ,anyone else would have been
The guy isn't a murderer, he isn't deemed to be dangerous. He never set out to kill anybody, and I have no doubt he too is going through hell.

What he did was unforgivable, totally unforgivable. He did however do something that people all over England do all day every day and walk away without any consequences. Unfortunatley though, the result of his actions we catastrophic and has destroyed lives.

I refuse to feel sorry for him, but it isn't murder, so he can't be treated like a murderer.

your right its manslaughter with a max jail time of 6 years ,not sure if that each child though .

The law stinks in the uk and has for many years now ,it should be changed IMO.

Well said Melton, it's not murder as he didn't deliberately set out for this to happen. However, given the position he is in, he has no excuse for being uninsured and like everyone, has no excuse for driving whilst drunk.

I do agree with what Haz is saying as well as it is another prime example of a footballer thinking he is above the law. Tosser! (not you Haz, McCormick)

Apparently he was driving Norris's Range Rover(or whatever it was)

And the reason he didnt stay overnight? Because he was a guest at another footballers wedding in Torquay the next day.

He stil shouldn't have got himself twice over the legal limit though(according to news reports),especially if he knew he was driving back the same night.

What are you talking about?

He's not been charged with manslaughter - and if he had been the maximum sentence is life, not 6 years. As it is, he has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving - and the maximum sentence for that is 14 years, although 6 months to 2 years seems to be what people get. It's also compulsory to ban from driving for at least 2 years; not sure what the maximum is.

There's a whole list of things which are said to make the offence more serious and point towards a longer sentence than the two years. If what has been written in the media is true, several of them would apply here, namely:
  • more than one person killed
  • other person seriously injured
  • uninsured driver/vehicle
  • driver over the drink-drive limit
They only have to find that he was talking on a mobile phone at the time and he could be away for years. :icon_wink

Another pissed up footballer with Coventry connections causes mayhem and death on the roads.:icon_evil

Pray tell me why the fact that he is a footballer with a Coventry connection is relevant.

Does this kind of thing happen to all footballers with a Coventry connection? Does this kind of thing happen to people who are not footballers and people who have no Coventry connection?

Nonsensical post!

My dad always used to tell me you cannot educate the ignorant... I now realise what he meant. :icon_roll

My dad always taught me to ignore idiots like you, but I thought i'd never meet anyone like that. I now realise what he meant :icon_wink

I also agree with BG i too would not rest until he was dead ,if it was two of my kids .

He would have been set a bail amount I would imagine and paid it. If a "normal" person could pay the bail they would have been released.

Or is that how it works in the US and not in the UK?
