Cardiff away we've not been to South Wales for a while

Clubs and Police ask for no derbies on opening day or public holidays. Police for potential of trouble and clubs because they'd miss a financial banker of a crowd.

Oh right fair enough, thanks for explaining.

In that case....

Bristol City at home first game.

Norwich at home on boxing day.

I though that the fixtures were just done on a computer randomly? So how are they not possible?

You'd be surprised how 'un-random' the fixtures are - it's basically a few people picking when they want fixtures to be within the necessary constraints. There was an interesting(ish) article on it on the BBC last year here

Together with this though I think they like to throw in a bit of 'spice' for the first day i.e. big clubs vs. smaller clubs or clubs just promoted into the league.

Isn't it amazing how every season we have a "big sunday" where Sky can show Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and either Man City or Liverpool all playing each other

I'm hoping for an early season game away at Portsmouth, its the only ground in the division I've not been to and would be good to tick it off early. Does anyone know if the BSBP games are announced the same day?

It was a couple of weeks later last season.

Aberdeen at a neutral venue I reckon.
