If a footballer has taken out an injunction to stop people posting the truth about him, how is a forum moderator or admin supposed to know about it, to stop it from happening?
Are we supposed to delete anything to do with any footballer, just in case?

As long as what's been posted is true and not libellous I don't see how someone who runs a site like this can possibly be held accountable, unless they've been told what people are not allowed to say.

The only way to stop this kind of story from spreading is if the player contacts everyone with access to the internet, to tell them what they're not allowed to say. Maybe they could use Twitter or something, rather than emailing everyone individually.

I've just been reading the RedCafe forum. The chief honcho on there is still censoring mention of the name even after it has been pointed out it is mentioned on all major websites now including the BBC!

Thankfully our head honcho is more enlightened :icon_bigg

Just to remind everybody, if something can't be posted, it can't be sent by PM either.
Don't forget PMs aren't actually 'private', they just aren't on view for ordinary posters to see

Told you it would be the second one! The fifth is a surprise to me though although it only mentions 'kissing' rather than a full blown shag!

Hang on.... he was going to reveal private details?(Yer,yer you lads would love to know them wouldn't ya?)

I would imagine he would have much more to fear about their bedroom secrets coming out. Whoops, must go, my mobile is ringing...........

Before people get the idea that mods spend all day reading other peoples' PMs, I'd like to explain how private they are..

I am the only person who can access private messages. There is no easy way to do this, I have to access the database directly.

There are a few circumstances I would look at PMs without getting permission first. The ones I can think of off the top of my head are these:

Sometimes someone will register and immediately start sending PMs without posting anything on the forum. I can see that this is happening, and if I suspect that the person is sending spam (that's usually the case) I will investigate.

When I receive reports that people have been sending abusive PMs.

When I have reason to suspect that people are breaking the law via PM.
This doesn't apply to when people have been sending links to match videos etc, I'm not bothered about that sort of stuff (although I like to pretend I am :icon_wink). But if I have good reason to suspect people are using PMs for serious offences like sharing child porn, arranging football hooliganism, planning terrorist attacks, secretly being a f*r*st fan etc I would investigate and report it to the police. I have not had to do that so far.
