In days gone by, all this LCFC iconography with the blue paint would have been exorbitantly expensive, as blue was the most expensive paint colour to make. Derived from semi-precious lapis lazuli and imported from Afghanistan, the blue pigment was reserved only for the most revered of religious figures. Absolutely fitting ‘Leicester Blue’ is the colour associated with our icons and the achievements of 2016.
