Wales boss John Toshack has named three uncapped youngsters in his squad for the next two internationals, including the World Cup trip to Azerbaijan.

Toshack has called up Reading striker Simon Church and midfield duo Andy King (Leicester) and Joe Allen (Swansea).

The three are likely to win first caps in the 29 May friendly against Estonia at Llanelli's Parc y Scarlets.

Toshack will then cut his 22-man squad to 20 for the World Cup Group Four qualifier in Azerbaijan on 6 June.

King, Leicester's young player of the year with 11 goals from midfield, has scored once in six Wales Under-21 appearances and has attracted attention from Premier League sides Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and new boys Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Well played King deservedly in the team.

Really hope those teams don't want him really he would be a big loss.

Surely we must have some other skinny ****er who can't tackle in the academy?

Didn't realise that was the main attribute of a midfielder?

Agreed, Michael Carrick can't tackle.....him and his team don't seem to be doing too badly. King's goals and his composed possesion and passing more than contributed to us winning the league last season. Still what do I know, I only watch the bloody games.....

Probably, good job that isn't King's role then.

He scores, breaks things up and is good at passing. You would notice him if he wasn't in the team.

Great stuff, always nice for a Leicester-supporting Welshman to see a Leicester player in the Welsh side !

I find it incredible to believe that there are still 'fans' so fickle that they would criticise a player who not only proves his worth with goals - a very rare and much needed asset in any midfielder - but who has been an absolute stalwart in the side pretty much season long. This mentality seems to me abhorrent and, unfortunately, it seems to be an attitude that fans of this club in particular have in abundance. Andy King can't win. If he performs like a true playmaker, breaking play up, distributing the ball and scoring vital goals, he is chastised for not tackling well. Throughout our history we've had this disease running through our terraces - a lack of support or a willingness to get behind every single one of those 11 who play week in week out for us. It's time I think to rid ourselves of it.

Your posts are far in-between but they are worth waiting for.:icon_wink

I'm with you on this Popillus. Yes, we're all fans and we've all got our opinions, but there are those that add energy to the cause and there are those that simply suck it out. Andy King is only 20 for goodness sake and already he is able to find space on the ball better than anyone in the team except for Oakley, who's had 11 years more to learn this trick. Why on earth would someone with the team's best interests at heart pick on a young kid who the manager has picked to play more games than any other player, and is now in his national squad?
Its just depressing - thank goodness they're the minority.

I think some people like to give a little balance by pointing out areas we would like to see improvement in. It does not mean we think the player is bad - we simply want the player to be brilliant. For instance no-one would deny that Fryatt and Howard as an attacking pair have been great this season.

But wouldn't it be brilliant if Fryatt could convert more of his on-target shots, and wouldn't it be brilliant if Howard occasionally had the extra yard of pace to reach a ball or get back for a pass.

Similarly for all his great passing, shooting and reading of the game, it would be great if King occasionally could do a 'Tiatto' or a 'Dickov' on an opposing forward, to slow them down a bit.

What pass it sideways, backwards or to the opposition.
