Looks like we could be hosting Jamaica v Ghana at the end of May.

The match was originally due to be played in London but they've been unable to find a pitch (Hackney Marshes must be fully booked!), so they could be heading our way.

Would be an interesting game, two fast-paced teams. I'd pay to see this. Lots of English-based players as well, the Jamaicans have Sinclair, Burton, Gayle etc. and the Ghanans have Essien, Agyemang and a certain Elvis Hammond!

Blimey.

Why Leicester if it was scheduled for London?

They teams agreed to play each other in London but then when they tried to find somewhere to play no one would have them. Leicester is fairly easy to get to and Jamaica have played here before.

Both teams will be in the UK anyway, Jamaica are playing England at OT and Ghana have a match in Glasgow the following week.

Trevor Benjamin?

I was going to travel to London for this game, so I'm quite pleased to hear that the game might be played in Leicester. :)

Still not sure what's happening for definite. The website I got the original story from seemed confident that the match would be played at the Walkers Stadium.

But another Ghana website seems to be a little confused, this is what they published yesterday:

"The match coordinator for Ghana's friendlies against Jamaica and Korea noted that Ghana does not have the resources to pay for any stadium to be opened for three weeks, so getting a venue in London proved impossible." He added that Filbert Street, the old football ground for Leicester Football Club was only secured because the rugby team also uses the ground and the rugby league has just begun."

something got lost in the translation there.....

Seeing how a lot of Jamaca's players are based in Britain, and that this will be the second time Jamaca will have played at the Crisp Bowl, we could be the unofficial home for Jamacan international friendly games.

How cool would that be.

Im disgusted by the generalisation you have made old git. the spliff and the word 'man' were not needed and will cause mayhem amongst the jamaican community that frequent this board.

We went to Jamaica last year, and the Jamaicans are well clued up on Leicester City, although mostly because of Frank Sinclair, "own goal king". :icon_eek:
