Because other clubs don't walk away when a Chairman says NO. They wait, contact the manager behind their backs. Trying to get it to the point where the manager quits.

What we have done is respect the fact the club has said no and moved onto our next target.

How often has a club in the relegation zone ever tried to get a manager from a team in the top half of the division, especially this late in the season. What we are doing is pretty unprecedented. Hence the fact we are getting nos from chairman and managers alike.

Let's not bullshit ourselves here that somehow this board is trying to win an ethics contest.

With regards to the position of clubs. All managers involved in this farce are employed at lesser clubs. Like the man said they should have had a target in mind and gone after him all guns blazing. (as is standard procedure for football clubs) if that was to fail then you move onto the next target.

This is a football managers job not fooking open day to try and hire mcdonalds managers.

It's all very well doing that if you're 100% certain he's the man you want without talking to him first, and you're sure he'll come.

But if you're not 100% certain, you can end up wasting a lot of time - particularly if it takes a week or two to go through the interview and second interview, then giving the man time to think about it.

If it takes 1-2 weeks for each candidate and you end up getting your 5th choice you could end up spending two months without a proper manager just due to the amount of time it's taken to approach clubs, conduct interviews etc.
When Levein went we didn't have that sort of time to waste. It's easy to say in hindsight that Kelly is doing a decent job, but when we started the process of looking for a new manager we didn't know how well Kelly would do.

If you are going purely by the size of the ground, has as previously been mentioned in another thread, that is only the office. The size of the office doesn't determine the success and profile of your company.

QPR, Leeds and Luton are not lesser clubs than Leicester City.
