We have had 3 or 4 seasons of doom and gloom, incompetent managers residing over lousy players that served up drivel. The threat of relegation seemed to carry a heavy burden around the club for most of last season, and the day we lost our top 2 division status at Stoke was like a death in the family. That day it dawned on the city faithful that the unthinkable had happened, we would be playing league games against Hereford, Cheltenham, and Hartlepool.
Well just over a month into the season, what do you think ?
Is it really that bad ? Is it depressing to be playing to an half full Walkers against shitty teams ? Whats the away fans perspective on going to new territory ? Is there much difference in quality between the championship and league 1 ?
Imo the fact that the team have started well, appears to have lifted the black cloud over the club. So were our worries about dropping into league 1 unjustified? or do you consider it still to be a bloody nightmare ?
Not sure why people 'can't be arsed' to read a medium sized post. Maybe they just prefer to read their own posts or one's that have just ten words, one of which must be 'tits' and each with no more than five letters. :icon_roll
I thought it was a decent post Brauny and read it all (it took 23 seconds to read).
I think the crowd at the walkers is now more 'hardcore' as the deranged 'glory' hunters that went last year to watch the likes of Plymouth and Coventry are not going any more. I therefore doubt that any of the atmosphere of last season has been impaired at all.
Obviously the quality is not as good - that's how divisional systems work. I would say however that the gap in quality between the Premiership and Championship is wider than between the Championship and Division One. This can be backed up by the cup game results which often sees Division One teams beat Championship teams - possibly more frequently than Championship teams beating Premiership teams.
I still think it's a bloody nightmare to be in this league although getting on a winning role in any division can only be good for the club, the players and it's fans.
I just hope we can continue to pick up maximum points at twice every three games which should, come the end of the season, see us up.
