maffyou said:agree with that, we might be weak at left back but the last time we got promoted we had Rogers playing there! Key to success in the championship are good partnerships at centre half and centre forward, both of which we have and i think we've got enough decent players around that to make a challenge for promotion. My only worry is that the midfield will be chopped and changed too much as theres not really 4 obvious players to choose.

Keeper - Douglas, Hendo
RB - Stearman, Gerrbrand
CB - McCarthy, McAulay
CB - Kisnorbo, Kenton
LB - Johansson, Sheehan
RW - Maybury, Low
DCM - Johnson, Wesolowski
ACM - Williams, Hughes
LW - Tiatto, Porter
CF - Fryatt, O'Grady
CF - Hume, Hammond
I dont think this has happened by accident.

bocadillo said:I'm sure it hasn't happened by accident - and it very much reduces the chances of us having to start a match with somebody playing out of position.
Having presumed that in each position you have listed (above) the favoured player first, the only doubt I have is to whether we can afford to play both Johnson and Williams in the same team. Might it be that bit of luxury that we can't afford? During the greater part of the pre-seasons, it has been either/or - although I did feel (and report) that at Macclesfield, where they did play together, they actually sparked each other off - pity the strikers didn't rise to that occasion!!
I am sure that there will be those who will think that both of them are fancy-dans and shouldn't be in the team, whilst the madbikers of this world will want both of them in. I will remain firmly in the one-or-the-other camp until I am persuaded otherwise.
Durham Fox said:The first player listed was not so much my favoured choice rather the way I see RK picking the side. Who would you play with either Williams or Johnson then? For me Johnson gets stuck in more than Williams or Hughes and offers a solid foundation.
bocadillo said:Don't misunderstand me - I would love to see Johnson and Williams playing their 'strutting stuff' together. I just don't think we are in a position to do it yet. I would have Johnson and Wesolowski as my first choice pair, but bearing in mind Wesolowski's youth would expect to see Williams replacing him about half of the time. If Johnson was out, I would replace him with Williams.
newtonfox said:i agree with you ,this season is looking better and better ,we have a good group of players that can all link together well ,we look a very Strong unit ,looks like if anyone dose get injured/suspend we have a good replacement for them ,i don't think we have had team like this since the MON era i mite be wrong but its looking good

Durham Fox said:Im confident Hammond and Ogrady are competant back up personally, in fact there is a strong case for them to start at Luton over the so far lacklustre Hume and Fryatt. Wide midfield could be OK if Low plays to potential and we give Porter a go!
bocadillo said:I think we're far more likely to see Maybury and Tiatto in the starting line-up, at least initiially. It's far to early to be thinking about Porter surviving the rigours of 90 minutes in the Championship yet. His impertinent style is going to see him 'kicked to shit' in his first few games - let's see how he copes with this before planning too far ahead.
