Why would they respect somebody that has no experience in coaching?
They respect somebody that tells them to shut the fukk up and do what they are told as they are employed to be their superior. Gerry would be a good asst coach using his aggression and determination and learning from the top man at the same time. Footballers have life too easy, they need dealing with, Gerry would be ideal

So basically he would be a good coach because he would hit anybody that didnt do what he said? :icon_roll :icon_roll

Why not get Steve Walsh back and he can threaten to sleep (allegedly) with all their wives! :icon_roll

but aidy boothroyd was someone who had coaching experience and qualifications-plus hes a manager ;) i duno maybe the club will appoint tags and it will prove to be a masterstroke-and i for one won't be complaining if it is.

The point I was trying to make was the fact that Boothroyd had to start somewhere, and that initially was as a coach, and an inexperienced one at that.

Everybody has to start somewhere, so why not somebody like Taggs at the club where he had his best years.

As for the players, I agree with Melton, all the players of his era have moved on so it isnt an issue, he should be treated and accepted just like Ray Graydon was, he will generate respect as he is a player who has won trophies and been very successful despite spending a good part of his career out of the top flight, he would be a shining example to all the current squad of what can be achieved with hard work, determination and commitment.

No, I don't mean physical aggression

Would Taggart accept an half arsed display from the players, no would he fcuk, he would expect all of them to give 110% and if they didnt then they would feel his wrath.

And I doubt there are any of the existing squad who would happily take the hairdryer treatment from Taggs.

Remember the Martin Reeves incident in the friendly Vs Bilbao, when he went apeshit at the youngster because he didnt feel he was pulling his weight, dont imagine we would have seen some of the powder puff performances witnessed under Levein had Taggart been around.

We have got a manager that has very little experiance in that role and an assistant the same, why the hell would you then employ another in-experiance coach, even if it was Gerry.

I am not saying that Gerry might not make a good coach, just that he is not what we need right now. We need somebody that has been around the block a few times and bring greatly needed 'been there done that'.

Colin Lee is still in the frame as far as I am aware :icon_wink

:icon_lol: :icon_lol: I remember that, I also remember him grabbing Savage by the neck during a game and almost pushing him over :icon_bigg As well as the classic clip of him assaulting Dennis Wise whilst playing for Stoke. :icon_bigg Also him going on Soccer AM and threatening to "get" Dougie Freeman back for feigning injury and getting Gerry sent off! :icon_bigg

Everything you want in a coach!

Although saying all that when CL whilst still playing for Hearts got sent off in a friendly for breaking his own players nose after they let a goal! He got banned for several games. :icon_roll :icon_roll :icon_roll

He could teach our young squad all about drinking excessively and chain smoking, that much I know! :icon_bigg

As for coaching ability... who knows? Similar situation to Neil Lennon, really. Both are (or were) a little bit on the wild side off the pitch. With an inexperienced squad and inexperienced managed, I'm not sure this is what we really need.

But... Gerry, Gerry! :038: :038: :038:

Anyone have a link to this footage?

While I'd like Tags (or Lenny) here, I can't see him being the kind of assistant that Rob wants. Rob likes being the one out their coaching, with his assistant inside doing the paperwork, or sitting in the stands to report down while Rob is on the touchline. Gerry isn't that kind of guy.

RK has Stowell as his assistant, IMO he needs a replacement for Graydon to the paperwork stuff and an effective replacement for Houston/Black to be head coach.
