City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare admitted they were looking to do more business. "It is well documented we are looking to bring fresh faces in," he said.

"You always have to be careful about talking about certain individuals before they are in the building. We are hoping to bring some fresh faces in by tomorrow and we will have to just wait and see if we do.

"I have to say the club is working tirelessly behind the scenes to do that, in terms of bids and trying to talks to clubs.

"From a coach's point of view, until they are here, have their boots on and are out the door on the training ground, I have to wait for others to do that."

Shakespeare said he could not foresee any departures from the City squad before tonight's deadline.

"We have had a few go out of the club already and there is always a few casualties when you bring new players in but at the moment the squad is not very big so we don't want players going out," he said.
