Best Exchange Rate?

There are many people who would be delighted to be able to afford to take rather less than £500 spending money with them on a trip.

I'm only taking €50 and I fully expect it to last my party of four an entire fortnight.

Will they exchange money at any post office? There's one 4 minutes away from my house, saves the hassle of going to town/Fosse Park.

Steve-O, I'm going to a music festival - won't be paying for any nights out or any real entertainment at all, £500 will be more than enough. Went to the same place last year with less than £250 and coped.

keep some sterling cash to change locally- as the pound is not fixed to the ERM it can make a little for a local changer sometimes

for the rest

use a debit card with maestro ..although each cash withdrawal
will have a charge on top.. for the rest take a c/c

watch out for skimmers on the atm'shttp://www.bustathief.com/atm-fraud-or-cash-money-theft-is-as-old/ - best to change your money at airport atm on arrival and then walk slowly around airport while the pickpockets get bored waiting for you to make a mistake like putting your bag down or looking lost and htey offer to help you

keep the euro's when you get back as youre always use them again

Another option is a prepaid travel card, you "charge up" the card before you go and then use it like a debit/credit card at ATMs, restaurants etc. Often, like travellers cheques, companies offer a next day replacement in the event of it being lost or stolen. Have a look here

When i went to the USA, I used www.crowncurrencyexchange.com . I got $2 to the pound, when the general rate was $1.91, and on the delivery date it had dropped to sub-$1.80. You have to have a little luck though.
