De Vries and Chambers were our best 2 players today IMO. Mattock had a shocker. Kishishev, Clemence and Wesolowski were poor. Hume was quiet. Hayes made a couple of decent runs when he came on. Campbell could have had a hat-trick. None of this matters though, we lost a match we should have won, we were the better team, we had more chances. Oh well, there's always Accrington, eh...

Lots of positives and negatives about the game. Individual performances are not yet geling into a team performance.

To my mind there was one cardinal sin committed - Standing there expecting D'Urso to stop play when there is a player injured on the edge of the 6 yard box. You don't do that with any ref, let alone that self important prat.

It not only gave them a soft goal when they looked incapable of getting a shot on target but inspired their defence to hang on to it.

MA is out of his depth, and I have said this from the start

What manager plays 4-3-3 with 55 minutes on the clock? Our defence are slow as feck and we bound to get caught on the counter. Braindead tactics. His selection today I didn't agree with as well - we had two players out of position - we have signed 12 players and not a single one for the left-side.

First half was a totally mess apart from De Vries' shot.

It was bad....just hope it's an opening day performance.

One that wants to win. I do not have a problem with it at all. Before that change I was as bored as hell.

I quite agree that the first half was awful. As before, we still have an unbalanced side. We also lack the cutting edge and I'm fed up with opposition keepers playing a "blinder" against us.
Yes, it's early days. I just wonder how long we'll have to wait for a radical improvement.

But it was 0-0 and we had a lack of pace at the back......suicidal. I can understand them tactics with 70 on clock but 55 was pushing it considering how ragged I thought N'Gotty and Maculay looked.

You win some you lose some with that tactic, it made for a more exciting game and we created more chances than we gave them. You seriously can't say you were happy with what had gone before it?

First half to forget, only MDV's shot worth mentioning. Second a lot better but why do we keep pumping ball in the air to someone who can't head a ball. On the floor he had a reasonable game but struggled to create any chances for anybody following up. MDV was probably one of our better players yesterday but still of the opinion that he's not the answer to our problems. N'Gotty & MaCauley did ok at the back but lacked direction in their distribution. Mattock & Chambers both struggled. Chambers seems to get drawn inside to much and left their wide man acres of room making it hard for him to close him down then. Very disappointed with the midfield, they couldn't put anything together. Thought DJ & Haynes performed well when they came on. Personally I would like to see DJ & Hume or Fryatt start up front, would give us so much mobility up there instead of defenders sitting on top players knowing that the attacker is rather static. By the way a point mentioned at our end, did you notice that the pitch has been narrowed. At the family from behind the goal you could see where the old goal line use to extend to the corner flags. This use to be a old ploy from teams like Arsenal(under George Graham) and Wimbledon in their heyday and we know what type of game they use to play.

By how much, 6 inches or 6 feet?

lets not forget we had a pen truned down and from where we sat it was a pen bloody ref and lines persons where as shit as ever and he was ment to be a prem ref ffs

If you refer to Hume.............. he fecking dived

no DJ ,the defender pulled him dwon second half after about 10 mins of him coming on :icon_wink

Weso should have fallen over when blatently fouled in the box too. All in all this was one of the most difficult openers for us IMO. They are a settled side on an excellent run from last year and full of confidence. We were obviously a new side struggling to gel. IMO we had more quality it was just that alot of the passes were played to te wrong areas and we seemed to have a slight break down in communication. We definatly need more balance in the side left winger etc but overall i think we will be ok this season. Maybe top 10 but not playoffs, i dont think we will be messing with relegation this year.

but when you are leading and have a defence which is mobile it's a whole different game. When it's deadlock and like I say have N'Gotty and Maculay at the back who are great with the ball in the air but not the best travelling along the ground.

Their goal originally came from a counter attack and the defence were left exposed.

Never the less, we just didn't put the ball in the net when it counted.

i thought GM found himself the wrong side of the forward far too many times yesterday. certain players can come out with a little credit from yesterday. Kish and Clem need a gas shower instead of an ice bath after their debuts, hopefully they will come back as the players they can be

GM is ok when the ball is planted on his head - other than that he's a bit clueless at times. Kish and Clem do the same job - it's a concern of mine that they will cancel each other out, need a creative midfielder there.
