Atleast we didn't have to hear, "we'll work hard on the training ground". Am i the only one who thought MDV was awful, he won a couple of balls in the air but missed alot more then he won

I'd be gutted if I heard that because I think they all worked really hard. I felt we were just really unlucky.

Perhaps we do need more of a threat in front of goal though. A good striker is a must!

very deflated, only listened to it on the radio but it sounded just like "same old same old" all over em but cant score, after all the pre season build up and all the hype and expectation its very very dissapointing to start the season like this especially to a side such as blackpool, ok so they are on an 11 game unbeaten run but there only a mid table side at most. a performance like that AT HOME ON THE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON WITH ALL THE EXPECTATION BEHIND THEM has left me gutted.:icon_cry:

exactly how i feel aswell. i woke up really early yesterday, so excited about the game after so much build up i was really up for it and to get beat 1-0 even though it sounded like we were all over them, just makes you feel flat and disappointed.

Not looking forward to that one:icon_conf. The first 3 opening fixtures are not the hardest we could have faced in this league, but imo we could do with them at a different stage.
Blackpool at home would have been ideal half a dozen games in. Palace will be full of confidence and is usually one of those grounds where we always play shite. Watford boosted by their win at Wolves could be coming to the Walkers looking for 3 out of 3 and top of the early league.
Imo Watford will go close to auto promotion. They are one of those sides that seem to go unnoticed but operate effectively in this league.
I can see pain before gain, and yesterdays result was a perfect reminder to everyone who was taken in by the hype that you have to gain the respect of the opposition before they fear playing us. Blackpool just hung in there and waited for an opportunity, and its what other average teams have been doing to us on a regular basis far too much in the last 3 seasons. The Walkers has become an happy hunting ground for opponents, they detect the fear and anxiety of both players and fans and then take full advantage. Three or four years at the Walkers and it still dosent feel like home, and we have yet to see a Leicester team to grace the stadium.
Filbo was a crumbling stadium and the move was needed, but for all the extra fans we can put into the Walkers it does not have the identity and intimidating edge that Filbo could provide. Imo most teams enjoy coming here and enjoy even more taking the three points away. Until we can build a strong home record and make other teams dread the visit, we will find it hard to escape our mediocrity

:038::038::038: Great post Brauny, 100% true.

Didn't make the game so I'm trying to get my head round what happened yesterday. From what I'm reading on here can I assume that we were shite but not as shite as last year?

I agree with those who are saying that the team and manager need a few games to gel before a judgement can be made but there should have been signs yesterday that things were better than last season, and don't give me all that c**p about Sunderland last season because the team that got promoted was not the team that started the season. We've already bought in the new players who are supposed to improve the team but out of the 12 bought in only 4 started, worrying if the other 8 are worse than the c**p we had last season. And before anybody starts, yes I know that the likes of DJ are not fully fit but why do we always seem to end up buying crocks. Not feeling very optimistic but hoping I'm wrong.

My take on the game.

The players were very nervous. The pre-match preparation (huddles and coaching staff getting at the players) appeared to be geared towards us flying at them from the first whistle but it never happened. It was too hot for high tempo football and add some anxiety and the legs go. Blackpool were a very ordinary side that will struggle to stay up. The ref got all the main decisions right.

The team itself was dreadfully unbalanced. Despite 12 new players, we've still not a keeper that inspires confidence or sufficient left sided players or attacking threat. To have our main left sided player as a kid with a handful of games under his belt is really unfair on him and he will suffer as a result. He played like he'd got to weight of the world on his shoulders.

N'Gotty and McAuley were solid and looked good. Chambers was ok, nothing more or less. Clemence and Kishishev were both very disappointing. Newton and Wesolowski were obviously suffering from being out of position. Hume and De Vries were okay but didn't look like a partnership that would consistently score goals. Hayes came on and proved that he should have started. Campbell and Stearman were ok.

Saw MM with a short bald middle aged guy at Fosse Park Sat morning. The pair were sat together in directors box at the game too - anyone know who he was?

good luck with the studies, I dont think I could ever go back to studying glad thats all in the past now.
Me I am a full glass person and need to win every game....:)

I'm 62, so this is a last ditch attempt before Alzheimer's catches me out, and I hate the fact that this season for the first time they're stamping SENIOR all over my season ticket. Excremental. Got a couple of Firsts (BAs) in my younger days. This Phud is a nightmare by my account, but apparently not according to my Profs. It's supposed to be brill.
Hey ho. Fortunately my Prof supports LCFC, so I think he's a bit biased in my favour.
Hope to finish it in the next 18 months - 2 and a half years in total, start to finish. My brain will explode after that, unless Martin Allen saves me. I have a hunch that he might, although he's a bit up his own.
I really like the new squad. Let's give them a chance to gel.
I really hate the moaners. But Leicester is full of them. Leicester is addicted to gripe. It's part of the mindset. I noticed that as soon as I arrived here in 1963, when, believe me, it was the most boring and dull and small-minded city in the UK. It's a bit better now. (I'm originally a Scouse - and if you slag me off I'll get your hubcaps or your kneecaps or your capslock)
:)
On with the Phud....And the team....

I've predicted 7th I predict no points until Watford. Who will be beaten. The midfield is still malfunctioning and the signs are there even after one game that this is so. Clearly, there is a need for a left sided attacker/winger. Kish probably should be cover for Clemence & Weslowki to make room for a new man. Hume was a let down, and that's a worry. MDV was decent-average. The two of them together are clearly going to be an unlethal combination but this cosy combo is probably going to be broken up soon. Look forward to 2008/09. for this season, look to the team pulling out of the bottom 6 after about 8 games (yes, really, the team will be in the bottom 6 for some games yet) and gelling as a team and heading to 7th place after 12-15.

Very good summary BN :038:

McAuley at full back when Kismybum returns? We have Kaebi to come in too, and Hayes.

Hayes was available on Saturday, but the manager thought that it would be better to start the game with Newton on the left hand side - which just about says everything, really

Second half performance after the substitutions showed MA got his team selection very very wrong on Saturday.

Hang them!!, kill them!!!, take them to the gallows!!!!!

How dare you suggest we'll get relegated and our season is over after just one game!!!!

I wasn't suggesting that - I was suggesting that the club would fold forever and never be seen again, simply because of the result on Saturday

I was actually suggesting sacking Allen and removing Mandaric whilst putting the entire playing squad up for sale :icon_roll Please keep up :icon_wink
