I have no idea how you came to that conclusion, I though he slotted in very well indeed. I mean, I was the one desperate to sign another CB during the transfer window but having watched Wes today I think he would be a perfectly adequate stand in for either CB in the event of a short term absence.

Remarkable as I had the exact opposite response. Was happy with Wes until today.

Sat in a power cut listening to the most insane storm I've ever heard (well 3rd most insane after the last two nights)

Did Soyuncu look handsome today? I'm missing him quite badly.
Power cuts and spectacular thunderstorms - sounds like South Africa!

Brighton looked a decent side at times. However, they didn't have a shot on target. We look so solid.

We battered them in all honesty. We should have won by several more. Excellent performance coming back from an international break.

Just hope that Jonny Evans isn't too bad.

Praet is a sensational player. He must start. I have no idea how but he simply must.
BN, what makes you say this about Praet based upon today's showing?

I have made no secret of my discontent with Chilwell since the back end of last season and the start of this. I stick by my assertion that he was dreadful during that time frame and offered next to nothing at either end of the pitch. For the past 3 or 4 games however (and during his international appearences), he has been absolutely exceptional. He would have been my MotM today.

I never form a firm opinion on any player off of one performance, Wes looked done last year and in his previous league games for us this year I thought he looked very shaky and that was with Evans and Soyuncu, I thought he was fine today, as a sub I'm fine with him being on the bench, but I'm talking about starting matches, I simply do not think he is up to starting Premier League games and hasn't been for some time
off of - did it for me

But for the Liverpool Assisted Referee system deployed at Palace yesterday (and when we played them) we would be reeling them in.

It's not just this appearance. It seems to be every time he's on the pitch. Our team just look better with him out there. He does everything so well.
I agree, and I’ve said all season that he looks absolutely class. He’s a fantastic option to have when we want to solidify the midfield - as he seems to be an all rounder who can tackle well but still make a glorious pass. A cross between Ndidi and Tielemans if you will.

But unfortunately for him we can’t change a team that’s won 5 on the bounce. He’s going to have to wait.

Rob Tanner put it perfectly for me in a chat on The Athletic, Praet is perfect for a 442 midfield as he does a bit of everything, but he's not as good going forward as Tielemans and Maddison and isn't as good defensively as Wilf so unfortunately he has to sit on the bench

At this stage five years ago, we were rooted to the bottom of the league and feeling that our spell at the top level was going to be very brief. We had ten points and little to be optimistic about.

What an incredible five years we've had, especially considering we've employed two absolute duffers as manager in that time. Now staying in the league is done by December and we're not happy unless we're competing at the top end of the league.

One warning sign though. Whilst we were bottom, a certain team called Southampton were flying high in the league having made a very similar start to the season that we have this year. At that point, they had a team full of talent - Alderweireld, Mane, etc. They couldn't keep hold of them and look at them now.
Difference is though we have already won the league previously and countless titles in the championship and League one, we have a good DNA at the club over the past decade. We also have a chairman who will not sell our top talent. We have a genuine opportunity to lay down some bloody big foundations and compete every year in the champions league and for the title.

I agree the January transfer window will be annoying and a nervous time.

I’m not so sure it will be nervous personally. Who would want to leave this team right now?!!!
