The ref gave the penalty following a conversation with his linesman. The VAR is only supposed to intervene if he thinks the ref has made a clear and obvious error. On repeated viewings, I'm not sure it is or isn't a foul on Vestergaard. It's definitely not obvious.

Therefore, under the rules, there is no reason to review. The VAR didn't see a reason to make the ref review. If the ref hadn't given the penalty, I bet the foul would have been given on any review.
Bollocks, it’s obvious.

Because players grab each others arms at every corner. It's allowed within reason. It's debateable whether that contact is sufficient for the VAR to make the ref review his decision. I don't think it's an obvious review so it isn't an obvious error.
Completely off the ball, maybe.

But on the player that's challenging for the header and concedes the handball... not a chance. It's a foul all day long.

same turgid shit every week we will have to wait until the 65 min for a change. next week will be the same team minus Soumare with Perez back in the team, then it will be good old 4-5-1 with Nacho warming the bench.

Ndidi has to come off or he will be sent off. Get him off and Nacho on.

Lookman, Castagne and Iheanacho on for anyone.

We just look lethargic. At the end of the half Tielemans had acres of space and an easy ball out wide. But his pass was weak and slow. No urgency. Summed up our season so far. Limp.

Soyuncu and tielemans also would be off if we had 5 subs but unfortunately just 3

You talk alot of sense BN but you are talking shit. It was a foul.

Once again, it could easily have been given as a foul and nobody would have complained. However, the ref didn't give a foul, he gave the penalty.

The only thing that can change that decision is if the VAR thinks the award of the penalty is a clear and obvious error. He decided it wasn't.

Do I wish he had asked the ref to review? Of course. But the VAR didn't see a reason to change the decision. My only conclusion is that he saw the contact as normal. I'd agree that it was pretty normal.

That penalty decision is disgraceful. Unsurprising of course as both referees and VAR are ****ing useless.

He needs to drop madders and youri. Absolutely **** all reason for them to be involved in the squad at the moment.

The only conclusion is that the twat behind VAR is a ****ing thick ****.

Yet again we will be relying on Nacho to dig us out of a hole. Poor ****er.

I really do think we need to consider an extended break for Maddison and Tielemans. They look completely bereft.

It's not just the foul. That position isn't unnatural for a defender jumping for a header. There's a couple of feet maximum between the ball and it. It's not a handball.
