As Hazz pointed out post match, I should've just closed my eyes when Howard took his spot kick!

I was under the impression banter involved some kind of wit?

We're talking football supporters. The lowest common denominator rule seems to apply in such circumstances.

Speaking of service stations, we saw Wellens Gallagher and Vassell on the way back near brum way

Probably getting supplies in before they went off to come Charity do most of the players were going to last night, according to one of the Walkers staff I was talking to after the Team bus came in and pulled off in the time it took me to get downstairs from the Fusion Bar.
Abe, and his translator, was the only one I saw. Perhaps his invite to this "Charity do" got lost in translation.

Nah looked more like they had been dropped off by the team bus-Gallagher and Wellens got into a car together presumably heading to the North West whilst Vassell got in his own

Well, they thought it was funny, bless em....
I am planning another crap blog post.....

Sorry

I know, but if I start thinking that I start to see myself having a future at Welford Road, goddammit.

Just so you know, meself and Hazz are organising a little bit of an abduction and detainment of you for the Watford game. I prefer to think of it as an intervention and don't worry, you'll be kept relatively comfortably for the duration of the game.
Do you have a colour preference for the wheelie bin?

So, from my viewpoint..

Weale 5 - Balls up was freakish! He had nothing to do...

Naughton 6 - Gave the ball away a lot as he tired in the second half. Not a great game by his high standards
Davies 6 - Not much to do, solid in the air, again started giving the ball away towards the end.
Hobbs 7 - Really good performance on the whole.
Cunningham 6 - Nothing to do, nothing to really write about.

Wellens 6 - Ran the midfield. Got bored I reckon. The space allowed to him was quite amazing, never found the way through the Brizzle back-line though.
Abe 8 - Ran his socks off, battled, worked, superb.
King 7 - By far our most dangerous player on the day, running behind Howard at times was Lampard-esque.
Gallagher 6 - Did ok, I actually though his set-piece deliveries were better than usual, although we couldn't capitalise.
Vassell 5 - Looks like he will need a few more weeks to become fully match-fit to be fair.

Christian Howard 7 - Worked his socks off, played very well until he tired. Penalty was poor, but these things happen.

s.

Dyer 6 - Never got in the game when he came on
Waggy 5 - Missed a good chance to square it for us. Looked industrious as ever though, like a puppy dog.
Fryatt 5 - Hmmm. Hull on the mind perhaps? Not on the pitch for long. Can't remember anything he did.

Overall, as I have said earlier, we did not deserve to lose on balance of play. However, I predicted we would at half time. It's all very well controlling the game, but you need to score goals to win matches. Bristol were shocking, but defended well and scored goals.

I think we had 10 corners? First half we must have had 55% + of possession and I would hazard a guess that most of it was in their half, however I cannot remember David James having to make a save (penalty aside) until the hour mark.

I think, had the penalty gone in, it could have been an easy win. But it didn't, and we failed to make possession count. Again.

I reckon this is why Sven wants Miller in. I would rather not at the expense of Fryatt, but in Sven we trust...

No doubt stated by everyone and the cat, I know their as rare as hens teeth but we desprately need a striker or two. Sorry I'm not a Fryatt fan, he simply doesn't have either the physical speed or the speed of thought to really worry good defences. Waggy needs a couple of goals to boost his confidence, and our reliance on Kingy, to score as a midfielder is very worrying. Howard can't really be expected to be influencial for 90 minutes given his work rate and I hate to say it his age. Vassell and Dyer can't be out wide, and in the penalty area, Gallagher another midfielder, he's not an out and out striker. We seem to have missed out on Miller, but Bednar may be avaiable according to the speculation threads, I hope we get him and someone else, apparently Sven has various players identified, but he won't say who for good reason. He has till Thursday to sort this out, otherwise I fear we will be in for frustrating few weeks until the transfer window opens, but by then we may be to far adrift of the playoff places and I think an automatic place is highly unlikely.

You knock Fryatt for 'physical speed' and 'speed of thought' and say he's no longer of any use, yet you imply that Waghorn is more important to us.

I doubt Fryatt is any slower, and he certainly has quicker 'speed of thought'.

The fact that Fryatt is barely playing says to me that he will be leaving us in January. There is no other reason, that I can see, why Sven wouldn't be playing him into fitness/sharpness in the same way that he is doing with Vassell.

No. I didn't say he wasn't any further use, however he is not as good as Waghorn,( in my opinion). The fact he is not playing, should speak volumes, the current manager appears not to see him as his first choice striker. Unlike Vassell,Fryatt should be match fit, something Sven and Vassell himself freely admitted he wasn't when he first joined the club. I don't want Fryatt to leave in January, he still has a role to play, but I don't think it will be as first choice striker. If the Hull speculation is correct, then Fryatt has a choice to make, stay at city and impress the manager or leave. I admit, not playing regular first team football, makes things a little more difficult, but he does have the chance to impress in training, the same as any other player. He does not have the right to automatic selection, he has to earn the right to play, so if there shortcomings in his game, training is the place to show he has improved. Thats pressure, but thats professional football as it should be.
