Uncovered this while green mongey was all over the forum like a bad green rash.

The figures here appear to show our away support as *whisper it* rubbish? :102:

Those figures don't make any sense, how could we have an average away attendance of 14 948?

The figures don't show the number of away fans though, just the lowest/highest/average for our away matches.

As we have quite a high average home attendance, the other clubs that come here benefit from our high crowds in their average away attendance, so the average is skewed against teams with high home attendances.

Am I the only one that thinks this table doesn’t make any sense?

No it looks a load of old bollox to me, the away column appears to be something like away attendances (surely it can't) added together and then the home column our average crowd. Finally them two figures made into an average between the two.

In fact I have realised it's just all the overall attendances of the games we have been away in averaged. So basically we are the 23rd most unattractive side to watch in the league but we haven't played the likes of Sheff Utd and WBA yet who attract big crowds.

The lowest crowd probably being our fixture away to Colchester
and the highest crowd probably at Norwich (that's a guess).

No, but I found it while seeking stats to throw at greenboy and this was all I could find. Even allowing for the skewing which did go through my mind I'd still expect us to be higher than the stats show.

It just means that we aren't an attractive fixture to the fans of teams we've played away.

No there's a separate table for home support. It's the average attendance of all the matches at which we've been the away team. If that makes sense. :icon_conf

As mentioned on an edit as an after thought.

Right then that means this evening I shall be trolling the internet for away attendances for comparison.

Would anybody like to post all the away attendances at our ground and from our support. I shall knock up a spreadsheet and have it worked out by the end of the week.

If you run in to trouble you can always get Joe to help you out as well. He is virtually a guru on this type of stuff.

The biggest factor in the table is which teams you've played away.

We've already played away at the three teams with the lowest home attendances - Colchester, Scunthorpe and Blackpool, and we haven't played away at some of the clubs with high home attendances, such as Sheff Utd, WBA, and, of course, Leicester. So that has a big impact on our average. The table will have more meaning at the end of the season.
