But "raising his hands" (your words), is not a red card offence, despite the number of times commentators say it is.

Figure of speech, he clearly did more than raise his hands.

Ah - I remember that now. Didn't we get near that once some years ago?

The sad thing this season is that the 28 points amassed in the Villa Park fixture have taken us from top place to 5th equal in that particular table.

Twelve naughty points to be deducted from our total as a result of Konchesky's successful appeal against his sending-off. We're back in the top spot, sharing it with QPR.

No cards were shown to City players yesterday. The team in light blue from Manchester were not quite so well behaved.

Wes Morgan - 1 RED
Liverpool (h)

Morgan was suspended from the game at Villa Park

Paul Konchesky
Konchesky was sent off at Villa Park; his claim that he had been wrongfully dismissed was upheld at an independent regulatory commission hearing

Hazz made reference recently to the Europa Cup places which are made available to 'Fair Play table leaders' so I thought I would have a look at the figures. Now the FA don't produce a Fair Play table - what they do is produce it upside down as a 'disciplinary table' with the biggest offenders at the top and the nice boys at the bottom. So here goes:

With Konchesky's Villa Park red now off the books and no cards at the weekend, we were joint bottom with QPR of the disciplinary table (joint leaders of the fair play table!) on Sunday. And now with Jordon Mutch having been booked against Everton last night we're out there on our own at the bottom (top).

I'll try to remember to include this in my usual after-match disciplinary update in future.

Not that we would want a 'Thursday night on Channel 5' type scenario to de-rail our promotion push next season.....

I don't care what league we are in, Europe please!!!

Bob, we only have one red.

Was it Clough who said something like if they aren't causing trouble what are they doing on the pitch?

I think it was more on the lines of "If they're not interfereing with play, what are they doing on the pitch?" as a reaction to the then new offside rule, so not what you're implying. As he often was, Ol' Big Head was right - and he also had no time for rough play.

Bit of foolishness from Vardy right at the end:

Wes Morgan - 1 RED

Morgan was suspended from the game at Villa Park

Jamie Vardy - 5 YELLOW

No escape for Konchesky this time!

It was initially reported that Danny Simpson was cautioned just before the goal but this does not now appear in any of the 'live text commentaries' and seems to be disappearing from team line-ups/match statistics. Can anybody who was at the match (or watching on a stream) clarify the situation please.

We're down to third place in the Fair Play table. Just the second Konchesky booking away from topping it.
