Once again the reason for a booking is not clear from any of the reports that I have read. Can anybody at the game or who watched a stream give an indication why Matty James was shown a yellow card?

Edit: Thanks to Hazz for the answer to this.

James was yellow carded retrospectively for a pull on Countinho. The ref played on, Liverpool hit a shit wide and he went back to book him (somewhat incredibly correctly).

The next 'cut-off date' is the second Sunday in April. Players receiving a tenth yellow card by then get a two-game suspension.

Booking for Tom Lawrence in his City debut.

Is Vardy hoping foro a second suspension? It would seem so with him being shown the yellow card less than 2 minutes after coming off the bench.

I agree it was less than two minutes, but what does the 'official' stat suggest? It seemed to be within 30 seconds of him coming on!

*Yes, I do realise that 30 seconds is less than two minutes!

BBC says he was on the field at 69:48 and booked at 70:35 - that's 47 seconds. The foul that brought about the booking was 4 seconds earlier.

Thanks Boc. I thought it was quick!

Was it for the foul or his reaction?

Was it for the foul or his reaction?

The foul. If he had been sent off for his reaction it would have been termed 'violent conduct'.

Three games out is a big loss for us. Looked like he was hitting some form. Presume King or Cambiasso will replace James? Three games seems harsh. It wasn't that bad!!!

Very nasty tackle in my view, if that doesn't deserve red and a three game ban I'm not sure what does. He seemed to be holding the midfield together very well recently so a real shame.

I thought he was unlucky. From what I could tell on MOTD, his foot hit the upper part of the ball and was pushed up on to the Villa player's leg making it look far worse than it would otherwise have been.

I was pleased to finally see some aggression in our game on Saturday.

When we play teams with a soft underbelly such as Villa, we must scrap like rabid dogs. They don't like it. Too often this season, we've gone down on one knee and handed three points to less than impressive opposition. Even Wasyl seems to have put his elbows away.

Looked harsh to me, but also unlikely to be revoked. Not ideal, especially with Mahrez and Schlupp out as well.
