Eh, this list was voted for by people who went on channel 4 website, seeing as channel 4 is often seen as thew student and teenager channel and the internet is used a lot more by males around that age, the votes are going to be skewed to that sector of the population, and seeing as Radiohead is about the most stereotypical middle-class student band out there... Well, you see where i'm goin'
I don't know many student teenagers from the middle-classes who are interested in buying property abroad, buying property, developing property, cooking dinner for kids, making grand designs or getting stuff together off a shitheap to make something looking like car.
The days of Channel 4 being a student/teenager channel went in 1990.
Public Enemy got to No.50, with the demographic you mention they'd probably been plaec no.345.
It's a load of horseshit these links.
Fair enough. I don't even remember writing that post, i was drunk at the time, i always seem to write angry, pointless posts then :icon_conf But, whatever, i do think these 100 Greatest programmes are a load of crap and just represent popularity rather than how good anything in particular is
Your point is proven by the fact that 'OK Compter' was voted #1
It's the Tories fault that Care in the Community gave those type of people access to computers. But If Bob Marley had been voted No.1 then someone may well have come on here saying why was that shite voted Number 1.

But you don't have to like or dislike a particular album to grasp whether it deserves to be picked as number 1.
The fact that I think Radiohead is just a pretentious dirge is largely irrelevant.
Even if you love a dose of their angst driven playacting, it'd be hard to argue that it's the best album of all time.
Music tastes vary from person to person, so these lists are shite really. I will not be told what to listen to because a few spotty nosed twats say so. I listen to what I like and I also respect other peoples tastes are whithout putting them down. Who is to say which band / music is better than others.
I am still amazed at how the beatles came to be as big as they were, IMO they were utter shite but others loved them
Agreed, the Take That of the sixties.
I'm not putting anybody down for liking Radiohead btw, whatever floats your boat then fair f*cks to ya.
The original post was just me being belligerent when I was drunk, but my point still stands up...I think.
take that of the 60s-**** off. yes they started out as a boy band effectively but what they did with sound recording techniques, concept albums and the some of the instruments they used were revolutionary for popular music-you may not like them but you can't deny the contribution they have made to what music is today.Agreed, the Take That of the sixties.

The Beatles were wank.
Ringo Starr was a legend however, because he narrated Thomas The Tank Engine.

They didn't do any of that in the 60's though dd.
They were a mass marketed boy band in the 60's & then proceeded to climb up inside their arses after that.
wtf? I'd say from 1965 onwards they started experimented with sounds and music. They may have started out as a boyband in the early 60's and they may not have been as boundary brnding as the Velvet Underground or Captain Beefheart, but they still did some really reveloutionary stufd in the mid to late 60's certiantly became a more arty and pretentious band than any mass-marketed band, whether you think that is for the better or worse.
I'd have to agree with DD on this one, and it was definitely all done inside the 1960's since they broke up in 68 or 69, i can't remember which
You could be right, I thought it was a bit later than that but it isn't really relevant to the point that they were an average boy band who went on to climb up their own arses.
Paul McCartney has climbed so far up his arse that he actually turned completely inside out.
