Frankly we have not had any really top rate centre backs. Sjoburg and Cross were good top level players but neither would have been good enough to get in the Leeds or Liverpool or Derby teams of the time. Martin Keown had IMO been better than any Leicester centreback but was well past his best when he came here.
I think I will opt for Matty Elliot.

On the credit side I have enjoyed watching our centre backs in the last few years especially Sol Bamba, Tunchev and Wes Morgan. We may have been watching a top centreback in the making when Michael Keen played for us.

Gary Rowett was always a good player, I felt. He was solid, dependable and of definite Premier League quality. He'd be there or thereabouts for me. Also a good option for Right Back too, he was versatile.
