There are many who will think that it is earth-shattering news or very close to it. Not everybody has the excitement in their lives that members of this forum have and a match against the Champions League semi-finalists will surely lighten their day.

Please let's not try to kid ourselves that this is not a tremendous coup for a club like ours.

A remarkable coup made all the more special by the fact that Real Madrid are only coming over to England for this game. When Barca came over they played a couple of other mediocre teams as well as us.

I dread to think how much cash this has cost. However, it sure demonstrates how serious the owners are about raising our profile.

Never been a fan of pre-season friendlies, but on this occasion, I agree with BN's sentiments......it truly does give an insight into the owners' aspirations for the club.
