Think so

But I'm off to the new Leicester Megabowl Live Arena for my combined season ticket for next year

Apparently there is a deal on that gives you access to four Status Quo/Showaddywaddy concerts, all the rugby games, the WWCWFFW Raw Wrestling extravaganza, and the next "Come Dancing On Ice with Chimpanzees Christmas Spectacular"

All for £499.99

Bargain

Sometimes I can't tell if you are genuinely against certain things, or just moaning for humour value. But I can't understand why you would be against having concerts there, if you are, then I just don't get it at all.

Basically, it appears you want a successful football club, that hosts only City games, that has little chance of owning its own ground over the next 20yrs (if we don't share), that generates income from matchdays only, whilst between matches the stadium shouldn't be used for anything other than Leicester City football related activities, basically turning it into some sacred Leicester City FC money pit because any ideas to generate income outside of football is frowned upon as it taints the fact that when you go once every 2 weeks, in the interim, someone else has besmirched your plastic seat with their body odour.

I can understand to some extent the issue over the groundshare, but this concert thing I really can't see their being an issue about it, the concerts will be in the summer and you won't be there so whats the problem.

Typical Leicester fans moaning about anything and everything. As usual, the club is damned if they do and damned if they don't.

I think you are slightly missing the point. Homer's objection to the concert and other activities more to do with identity and the fact that we are no longer able to survive just as a football club, but are now part of a multi-facetted entertainment complex. I appreciate we would all like to take the Club forward, but is that at any price. :? :?

Just to let you all know I'm in the process of negotiating grazing rights for a few cattle at the Walkers. I'll only get 2/3 of the pitch as I believe Blaby district council need the other 1/3 for landfill requirements.

It won't affect the pitch though.

Brilliant. :D :D :D :p

Well I don't fancy of the produce that come from your cattle - not sure my stomach can take those synthetic fibres

great - with all that revenue Craig should get a big piggybank to get us back in the Prem

Oh you don't want that - that explains why you don't want more revenue for our club

That is the reality of today - all clubs are looking to utilise their grounds for as many days as possible to generate extra cash - its not just City doing it

There was a time when this forum was buzzing with laughter, people with a sense of humour, and light hearted tolerance of violently opposing views

Yet another tradition that has disappeared

What that means if somebody argues well against your views the enjoyment runs out ?

I'm all for healthy debate - of both the light hearted & serious variety

My point was that we are all looking at it from extremes. IMO We should utilise the stadium away from just matchdays to make the money to be successful, and staging concerts is one way to do it.

I fail to see how some concerts in the summer make it a corporate megabowl, but i 'm willing to listen. If by continuing the logic that anything non-leicester City makes it an entertainment complex, then how do you propose to increase revenue by not staging non footballing events? We are left making money soley on matchdays.

Unfortunately, football clubs are the family run clubs in the days of the Shipmans back in the 80's, they are financial businesses and we have to accept that, like it or lump it.

Like I say, I can understand the feelings associated with the rugby share, but 4/5 concerts in the summer when there are no games and we are enjoying our summer doesn't present any issues does it?

By the way if the WWE come along i'll be volunteering to oil up the likes of Stacy Keibler and Torri Wilson, while Homer is sat moaning that his local has stopped serving Old Speckled Purple Helmet and replaced it with Carling.

Busted..........

Look

Time was, not so long ago, when we were a football club.
That's it. Nothing else. Simple
We then won a couple of trophies, and we played in the Prem
Ask ANYONE at that time if we should hook up with the rugger buggers, or anyone else for that matter, and they would have ripped your head off and shat down the hole

But now we cannot be a football club any more. We must change or die. There is no alternative.

Can't you see it makes financial sense ?

It's all about money these days, you fool - get with the times.

Football is a business. You can't have it how it was - the fact that you do means you are just a typical moaning fan.

What's next on the road to Corporate LCFC ?

What if it makes financial sense to move the whole lot to Milton Keynes, lock stock and barrel. Should we do that if it means more money for Craigy boy to spend in the summer ?
What's the argument against if there's more cash in the coffers ?

I know why you think what you do - do you think I am that stupid ?

I just don't agree with it in any way.

on an personal level i am very excited at the prospect of live music at the walkers purely as a music fan.no more treks to the NEC or even brittania stadium a venue on the doorstep just what ive always wanted and if city benefit from revenue at a time when the stadium is normall closed for a couple of months then surely thats a bonus bring on angus

The acoustics will be shite IMO.

One of the main pro-sharing lobby arguments for all of the entertainment driven decisions is that it is all good for CL and his tranfer funds. In other words the ends justify the means. That line of thinking can lead you to places you do not want to go.

One of my major concerns in this whole entertainment complex idea is that all those that participate in it will not be heard above all the clamour. City will be but a voice trying to be heard. :? :? :?

a little over dramatic i feel ,concerts take place all over the country in soccer stadia and not one person has sold their soul to get there

what benefit do we get out of the stadium being useless during the week when it is not being used for football/egg chasing? manchester city have live events in their stadium with little problem. from the outside the football stadium is just a building with little character and during the week is a useless stadium with little character or football, so whats the problem with putting it to use and providing leicestershire with some large music events and gaining financially?

And I agree with some points. But hosting a few concerts and sharing with the 'filth' doesn't equate to moving the club lock stock to another town does it?

Just to point out, the groundshare was muted years ago when MON was about or just after and I didn't see anything wrong with it then either, or now.

I think some of you are becoming "rugbyphobics".
My company held an exhibition in one of the many halls inside the Walkers recently. Downstairs was a clothing company holding a seasonal sale. All providing revenue to the club.
One of the design features of the new stadium was the provision of an increased capacity for corporate entertaining and leasing of facilities.
It's called business!!
Get yer heads out of the sand gents!!

"We are delighted with the co-operation we have received from the City Council in giving the green light to our series of proposed concerts.

"We have consistently stated that it is our intention to make the Walkers Stadium a focal point of the community.

"As well as being the county's premier sporting venue, we now have the ability to establish it as the leading music and entertainment venue in the region as well."

Two points. Tim Davies has become the Chief Executive of a leisure Company and much less the Chief Executive of a Football Club. I also believe he sees himself in that light.

Secondly with the extra revenue generated by these concerts, why is there still the imperative of the ground share.

Assuming a net figure of £250,000 per concert, my simple maths tells me that we could have the money the Tigers will put into the Club for the ground (a reputed £6 million) in four years.

Clearly the idea that groundsharing is only done for CL benefit just does not sound right and I would love to see some figures because there are too many unanswered questions.

Timmy boy obviously has ideas way beyond just being the CEO of Leicester City.

RN, what odds TD trying to get a Casino at the Walkers.

We used to have a football ground and a football club

But now the Corporate Leicester franchise rolls on.....
