If Britain hadn't sold it's industrial heritage and ability to be self-sufficient to the banks led service sector then the crisis wouldn't be as bad over there as it's going to be. When you put your eggs in one basket you better hope that no-one ever knocks it out of your hands.

I like what Obama's planning. A green led social recovery looking at his policies. Perhaps it's time for Brown to jump into the euro.

Spain is fecked because of the Euro, it has no way of playing with interest rates to help their economy like we do.

Just because we are at parity moving into the Euro would be a very bad idea, plus it would be unlikely that Germany and France would want us right now.
 
Spain isn't "fecked" because of the euro, if anything the fact that the euro is a stable currency and spain are part of Euroland with Germany and France, the euro works in their favour (as with all the poor countries of Europe).

I agree it would be unlikely for the UK to want or be wanted in the euro.
