So where's the penalty?

I'm listening to the Palace commentators so I don't know what RL said about it, but they said it was a definite red card, but couldn't understand why it wasn't a penalty.
They said the linesman had told the ref about it though, so I assume the ball was out of play when it happened, or the linesman would have signalled for a penalty. Play was re-started with a throw-in.

Who knows with these knobheads, but according to the radio that was very controversial...

Jeff, are you listening to the palace commentary? What were their thoughts if so?

RL said the red card itself was not crystal clear, but that if it was indeed a red card it should have been a penalty because the ball was still in play when the incident happened.

Did the ref blow up while the ball was still in play? That's the question I suppose.

According to RL, they saw the replay on tv and the ball was definitely in play. :102:

Oh well, we've got 45 minutes to beat an average team with 10 men. How hard could it be? Feel free to drag this post back up when we **** up.

You would imagine it won't be quite that simple. You'd expect they'll now sit back and hope to hit us on the break...

Yeah, but did the ref stop play while the ball was in, or did he address the incident after the ball had gone out?

Either way, if the ball was in play when the incident occured (which RL are convinced it was) then surely it has to be a penalty?
