seriously when will this story just **** off and die

I see it being as credible as the fantasy propelled by Jock Wallace that Johan Cruyff was about to sign for us but not quite so credible as the belief that John Toshack was coming to Filbert Street which reached the level of the Mercury actually naming him in the likely line up for game.

This story will run and run until enough people consider why Beckham would actually want to join a side currently in the second tier - and not even in the top half of that league leaving aside whether the football played in the Championship would be a suitable canvass for his remaining abilities and fitness level.
