Did you pass up the opportunity of overtime at work to go and buy that Dickov shirt? :icon_lol:

Hang on, surely you of all people should be creaming in their pants over this.

Yeah, you might think that and he used to give his all but I never thought he was clinical.

I used to shout Dickov for England! when he did something good and continued to do so because without fail someone would point out he was Scottish. A few of the lads who used to sit nehind me started doing it as well but it never caught on. Funny that.

The last striker who played for us that I would have confidence in converting more one on one's than he missed was Tony Cottee.

is a good signing, not great but I think he will get 10-15 goals depending on how much he plays. I can only see him and fryatt scoring with any regularity, I dont have much faith in howard.

Not too sure on this one, if he really wanted to come back and play for us he would have done so a week or two ago instead of going over to Canada to see what they would pay him. We have obviously offered him more than the others and the 2-year contract seems a bit excessive for a 35-year old.

Obviously though if he can get near his strike ratio when he was at Blackpool last season I won't be disheartened and TBH I don't see why he can't in this league once he is fully fit.

If you watch his interview (and choose to believe him) he was approached by Pearson when he first came here (Pearson, not Dickov), but Pearson asked him to be patient whilst he settled in. Dickov had already arranged to go to Canada a week before and told Pearson he wanted to see what they had to offer.

All very reasonable if you ask me.

Really do not think this is the way forward, whilst Dickov did well for us in the past, do not think he will help our plight in this league.

We seem to have an abundance of strikers, Hayles, Cambell, Howard, Fryatt, Dickov - do we really need all of them?

Roll on Saturday, a guaranteed 0-0 if ever there was one.

Absolutely, it is bound to be scoreless. Especially at this stage of the season and the way that both teams have been playing so far and it's not as if we have an abundant surfeit of strikers.

i'm very happy with this signing, guaranteed goals at this level IMO and will unsettle defences. some people older than me will be able to answer this, was pearson quite small for a centre half? because on the OS he only looks a bit bigger than Dickov, and even i'm bigger than him, just.

By the way
from wiki;
Dickov returned to Manchester City after his loan before then being released at the end of the season. An initial bid from his former club Leicester City was rejected a week earlier, and after pondering other offers from Toronto FC and Blackpool, Dickov decided to rejoin Leicester on August 7, 2008, signing a two-year contract.

what's all this about?

Is there any chance that you may have copied that from a site that anybody is able to edit?
You might as well trust football-rumours for your facts if you're willing to believe the made up shite on wikipedia..

Dickov's a good signing. Its not just the matches, where he will no doubt be used as an impact player, but on the training ground, where he will be able to show the youngsters , what it takes to be a good poacher inside the six yard box, an area where he was always at his best. Its been a long time since I have a good feeling about the season ahead, maybe the relegation has actually helped. we've cleared the decks, new blood in and with a Manager who has had time to put his own team together without it appears, the interference of the Chairman. Lets get started
