Saw this post on the FT thought i would post it here.
This thread isn't to be negative but to enlighten people on the challenge that we face next season.
I decided to undertake some research into how long it has taken clubs relegated from the Championship to League One to bounce back in the past 10 years, you may be slightly concerned by these facts.
Since the season 97/98 - 30 clubs have been relegated - ignoring this seasons' sides
Out of these 30 clubs relegated, only 11 have returned.
Man City - Relegated 97/98 - 1 Season in League One - Returned via play-offs
Stoke - Relegated 97/98 - 4 Season's in League One - Returned via play-offs
Reading - Relegated 97/98 - 4 Season's in League One - Returned automatically.
Bristol City - Relegated 98/99 - 8 Season's in League One - Returned automatically.
Walsall - Relegated 99/2000 - 1 Season in League One - Returned Via play-offs.
QPR - Relegated 2000/01 - 3 Season's in League One - Returned automatically.
Crewe - Relegated 01/02 - 1 Season in League One - Returned automatically.
Barnsley - Relegated 01/02 - 4 Season's in League One - Returned via play-offs
Sheff Wed - Relegated 02/03 - 2 Season's in League One - Returned via play-offs
Brighton - Relegated 02/03 - 1 Season in League One - Returned via play-offs
Notts Forest - Relegated 04/05 - 3 Season's in League One - Returned automatically.
Some facts
In the past 4 season's only one club has returned to the Championship and it took them 3 season's to do so.
4 Sides have returned after just one season in League One - although 3 of them doing so via the play-offs.
And crazily enough, not one side relegated in the past 10 years has won League One on returning to the Championship.
So for all those people that think Leicester City will go on to win the League One title by an absolute mile, maybe its time for a reality check.
It's going to be hard work.
Just thought i'd bring some facts to you guys.
