Smith looks like a good player, Arsenal rate him and he clearly has talent. Why would we want to waste his talents up front? He doesn't have a great shot on him but he can take people on, a perfect winger. I think Arsene Wenger and his staff know a thing or 2 about what makes a centre forward.

Bloody Foxes Talk.

another football forum is full of posts wanting ryan smith to play up front. i find this all very embarassing as these people must have seen all of 20minutes of the lad, and while i admit he looks promising i can't see how he is a world beater yet.

These are the same people that were talking-up Hammond and Hume three weeks ago. Ryan Smith is nothing more than potential at the moment - and he didn't show too much of that at Preston.

I think CL has the right idea, have two pacey wingers and try and get the ball in the box as much as possible! I think the 4-3-3 against Cardiff was Cl trying something different and it seemed to work in a sense, but if u play 4-3-3 you are looking to score more that one!

Why don't we go for the 4-3-3 that was so effective against the in form Cardiff?

What 4-3-3 at Cardiff? You're going to have to remind me.

The OS says we played 4-5-1 with only Dublin up front. I think we played a pretty ordinary 4-4-2 with Hammond not quite able to keep up, so some might have thought he as playing in midfield. (OK - that was supposed to be a joke!)

Seriously, I felt that the midfield's support of the frontmen was more in evidence at Cardiff than we have seen it inb other games, but 4-3-3 - No!

Who is alleged to have been the 3rd striker?

I believe RL said it was 3 up front with Hammill as the 3rd man Boc

He certainly was able to get forward more than usual - but it wasn't what I would call 4-3-3 in any sense of the imagination.

Like I said it was RL,getting the players identity is a start for them.

It wasn't just RL, it was CL who said it.

CL must be listening to RL too much!!

beacause we failed to score and never looked that likely to. The defence is solid enough now in a 4-4-2

But we won 1-0 durham. :102:

I don't think we need another striker, we just need our other strikers to strike...

Im with u on this one MK. I dont think it would hurt to have another younger kid as cover. But we can always get a loan player in as and when we need it. We certainly cant afford to buy one. Even a decent youth teamer would probably be good enough.

I have a feeling CL might have a few bob spare come January window.

What? You think they might let him spend the money that he gets for Williams?

Quite possibly, although Forest will get a good chunk if I remember rightly. I also think he might have a bit in the coffers.

Surely he wont be able to spend much if the board dont think we wil get promoted and therefore make up the difference lost from the parachute payments. etc.

I Think we could use another striker, but i would prefer a loan deal for someone with experience.

However, since we know that CL would prefer Dublin as a striker, i would expect him to get a defender in january to enable Dublin to play up front more.

Thats not what i want, but what i think CL will do.

would forest get anything for williams? they refused our settlement and it went through the courts, i know nothing about legal stuff so not sure if they are entitled to anything if we are to sell our model professional
