It's quite simple really: Any team dreams of having a striker who can score 1 goal in 2, any team dreams of having a creative player who gets 1 assist in 4. Especially in such a low scoring league as the Championship. Players who get either of those ratios will earn you countless points over a season.

While I agree with what you write, the teams that win things not only have players like that, but such players also help their own defense by defending from the front and putting the opposing defenders under pressure.

Either the Yak is unable to do that due to fitness problems or recurring injury concerns, or he feels he doesn't need to do that sort of thing.

Seriously apart from his goal at Derby he hasnt shown anything special....you watch if we bring in Heskey next year he wouldd get a similar return....doesnt make you a good striker if the goals are practically given to you.

Unbelievable. We, as a club, have been bereft of top level strikers for so long our fans cannot get their heads round it when we do have one. If the Yak was to score forty in a season I could still see folk moaning 'yeah, but he hasn't once kissed the badge'/'he don't come and applaud the crowd after a game'/'he doesn't eat monster munch'. It's goons like this that don't deserve to support Leicester.

A strikers game is to score goals, a midfielders game is to provide those goals, roughly speaking. So yes it does make a striker a good striker if he is scoring the goals provided. It makes him an even better one if he, in turn, is providing for others.

Aye t'is true. But doesn't ours seem a little more preposterous than others? I may be just being blind to the truth, but I couldn't see the likes of Forest or Derby bemoaning the signing of someone like the Yak?

Even one half of our comedic commentary duo slates him on a regular basis, the irony being that he is an overweight, ex-striker himself. SURELY he realises that Yaks contribution in his limited time here has been great.

Why I don't expect the Yak to chase every ball down, when the opposition have a goal kick, it would be nice if he got nearer their 2 central defenders, so stopping the short kick.

It is pathetic really, there are even people saying you can't count all of his goals as some where a hat trick which skews it. Well how many can we count per game then? I had an argument about how effective Fryatt was with an idiot who said you couldn't count penalties or goals inside the 6 yard area. Unbelievable.
