Any half decent players will surely be off at the end of this season, leaving us to face this kind of embarrassing total on a more regular basis next year.

There is a rumour that there has been an approach from another county for an 'unnamed' Leicestershire player - this is allegedly additional to the Warks approach for Taylor. Maybe one of our young seam bowlers??

Can you develop a county team on the basis of being highly competitive in the T20 and non-competitive in the Championship? Financially the answer is possibly yes but I would have thought that the foundation for cricket development has to be on a wider basis.

I can't help thinking that lack of motivation and lack of discipine is a major factor in the shocking recent performances in the Championship e.g. against Northants and Kent. No doubt the coaching staff and the players are trusting that a win against Kent next Saturday will cover up all the problems.

I know with M.Buck it's simply a matter of time, this policy of using the young talent backfires as soon as they realize how poor the setup on the whole is.

it always looked like it was difficult to score runs on that pitch but 1 big partnership changed the whole game. There is no excuse for being bowled out after facing a mere 88 balls :icon_redf

I was a bit depressed to see Hoggard tweet at 7pm something like "Just seen the Leicsccc score!"

Club captain and he's not keeping an eye on the game?

I suppose it would be too much to expect him to be at each day of ever match whilst injured, but I would have expected him to have some inkling of what was going on.

Sorry, I think Hoggy is great, has done well for the County and am delighted we have him so I'm really just ranting at anything to do with the club after todays events,,,,,,, :icon_cry:
To be fair, the implosion was so quick, he probably just went for a quick cuppa and came back to find us 7 down.

Not really sure what to say, we've put in some right shockers in the county championship recently. It was only last month we were out for 48, so getting out for 34, sadly, isn't totally unexected.

I'm just quite surprised that despite our woes the management haven't changed one single thing. They're happy playing 4 specialist batsmen, 2 all rounders, 4 bowlers and an out of sorts keeper. Losing McDonald was a blow for this game but the mid-order was always looking shaky. We haven't looked balanced at all.

Some of our batting stats, not looking nice but here you go: McDonald 39 (1 ton, 1 50), Jefferson 39 (2, 3), White 35 (0,3) Boyce 32 (2,0) Taylor (0,4), New 14 (0,1), Cobb 14, Nixon 14, Smith 10, Du Toit 6

I agree - but as far as the Championship is concerned, I don't see too many options. There is the odd little thing that could be changed e.g. Greg Smith is an opener and he is being played at 3 - which doesn't feel right. Overall we just don't seem to have enough quality batters and Tom New just extends the tail.

In contrast we have several options for the T20.
